I have the 500g Western Digital My Book World

I have the 500g Western Digital My Book World Edition and there is power going to it, but the blue rings will not show up and the drive is not shown in Mionet or My Computer. I have tried every fix I can find on this website, but nothing has worked. My next step would be to take it to Best Buy and see if they can recover my important files.

Thanks for searching our database first, sorry you didn't find the answer yet but let me remedy that.
If you're getting power but no lights either the My Book circuit board or the drive circuit board has failed. Either way avoid Best Buy and Geek Squad, I have heard way too many customer complaints about both when it comes to data recovery lately.
First stop in at your local PC shop and ask the techs there to remove the drive from your My Book and test it in a new enclosure. If it works there, you're done, buy the enclosure.
If that fails and the drive is at fault, reply back with your location(Country, State and City) and I will refer you to an actual data recovery pro near you for data recovery.
