Question about Washing Machines

GE Proformance Washer

Hi, I have a GE Profile Washer that was given to me as a gift. It had sat in our friends garage for 6 months. When we recieved it there was a leak in the hose but when we replaced the hose in the back that the water extracts from we found that the washer held no water. As soon as it would start to fill the water would shoot out the back even with the hose attached. I am not sure how to fix this problem. Please help. Kelly

What is causing it to leak on the hot water side?

The connection may have deteriorated while the machine sat idle. Reconnecting with new washers may solve the problem.

Washer sat in about 4 inches of rainwater water

Do you have friend who would take the time to open the machine.
4 inches might cause a motor short, it is iffy
also when the storm drain backed.. did it trip the circuit breakers that protects your washer

Sounds like a lid switch issue to me. the washer wont run if it thinks the lid is open. its a safety mechanism. Replace the lid switch. it's a cheap try and probably the right answer

Makes a grnding sound when washing(not always) & does not spin all the water

This problem happen to me a few months back--washer was 6 months old. A technician came out and told me that I must have loaded the washer after the water was in the tub. He stated that I must load my washer prior to running the water in because the water fill amount is based on weight; therefore it was now weighing too much. Go figure...have always loaded the washer with water first and clothes last. I always put clothes in first then the water--I must say, the problem has not reappear.

Hope this helps.
