Question about Panasonic PT-56HX41 56" Rear Projection Television
I had a repairman out and he said the convergences were bad. The blue green and red. He said it would cost $550.00 to fix it. I can't afford that. The tv has like ghosts. For instance instead of seeing 2 eyes, you see 4.
Two ontop of two. He said everything else was good on the tv. If this is what's wrong with the tv where do I buy the part and how do I know which part to take out and put the new one in. He said I could buy the part but then you have to focus the tv. I just think I need some advise. Serial # on this is 9008041 RA-3. It was manufactured in Nov. 1999.

You will need to replace your two convergence I.C.s.They are two large
IC mounted on a large aluminum heat sink.Replace both, look for any
burned resistors near them, replace those if needed, and readjust your
convergence. Good Luck
Let me know if you need any further help

I just had my HD DTV installed this weekend, you have to leave it on 480p. I too purchased my tv in 2002. Per DTV, its an older model and you have to stay with the 480p to get the best possible picture. I have to admit, don't know what the 1080i looks like, but 480p is showing me a very good picture. Best I have ever seen on my TV.

My Akai PT 5598HDI has too much red and is dominant and convergence board IC's has been replaced. No significant result. On the convergence adjustment on for red is very focused in the center and very brigth and dim along the borders while blue is very dim and blurry. Focused has been adjusted. Your thought.

SOURCE: convergence problem ,Help Please
Something is not right here. Is there any possibility that you can get the circuit designation (Rxxx) of the resistors that were "incorrect"? I am not aware of anything like this that can cause the "memory to be erased". The only memory in that area would be the factory convergence settings which can be modified from the service menu. Please try to supply the resistor IDs and I'll check on this.

Sounds like your convergence outputs are bad and you may also have some low value resistors that need replaced. That set probably has 2 outputs. Both will need replaced even if only one is defective. Kinda like headlights, if one is bad, the other isn't far behind it. Excessive heat kills the amps after a few years of use.
