Question about Apple iPod MP3 Player

My ipod wont link up with my itunes

I got a new ipod for christmas and i know im going to sound stupid but i didny realise that you needed itunes to load songs onto your ipod.I tried to do it on windows media player but it didnt work.I realised i needed itunes and i loaded it but now it doesnt even detect that i have plugged my ipod in and it doesnt transfer any music.It says on my ipod screen that it is connected but it never has the do not disconnect thing flash up and it doesnt have a sync sign on the screen like it should help me!

I think i can help you.
I dont think you need itunes. or windows media player. I neve use any programs that normally come with the device to install. What you can do is.
Connect your ipod to your computer.
Then open the folder which should be Removeable dics or somthing. And if there is a folder saying mp3 or songs or somthing open that. and minimize it
Then whatever music u want right click it and copy then go to that other folder and paste. It should work!.

If it dosent connect or somthing. It might be that the output socket in the ipod is spoil or something.
