The washer will not drain completely.

Check the operation of the water pump--does the motor run slowly? Check the drain port from the outer tub, it may be partially plugged by a sock or other clothing that got into the outer tub by mistake. Look for collapsed, kinked, or damaged hoses to and from the pump. This is a timed event, so rapid removal of the water is important.
