Re: linking windows live id to my live account
Xbox live is down atm most of the online games right now are not working and the voicemail and messaging systems are down. Im sure that the downloading system is also down. They know about it and are working on it. If you would like to track the status go to www.xboxlive.com and search status this will bring you the xbox live status whether it is working atm or not just yet they hope to have it working this week. This issue started on friday or saturday this past week.

Are you talking about the manual passcode that you assign on each console? Or the password to his XBox Live account?
What do I do if I forget my pass code for my Xbox LIVE Account?
If you have forgotten your Xbox LIVE account pass code, recover your account using Xbox LIVE.
To recover a gamertag
To recover your gamertag, you need the associated Windows Live ID and password for your Xbox LIVE account.
If you're signed into Xbox LIVE with another gamertag, press the Guide button, and then press X on your controller to sign out.
Press the Guide button again, and select Recover Gamertag.
Select Recover Gamertag again.
Enter your Windows Live ID and password for the gamer profile that you want to recover.
To recover or reset your password, you need to go to the website below and enter your Xbox Live ID (which is linked to a Windows Live ID) and then give them the e-mail address to contact you at. Windows support will then guide you through the steps necessary to retrieve your password. You will probably need to give them some identification of some sort, so be prepared to do so.
this also happens when you recover you gamer tag too many times, its a safety thing, go to live.com sign in an you will have a message follow the steps to re activate your account, sill i know but it worked for me...
