IN76 Pojector Just Turned Off, Will Not Turn Back On

Last night while watching the football game my Infocus IN76 just turned off. No noise, no warning, no nothing. Projector will not power up. No lights no flashing, nothing. Tried a new power supply cable on a good plug and still nothing.

Projector was plugged into a Monster (Theatre) Surge protector and it was not storming so lightning is not likely.

We have not seen any warnings that the bulb was about to go out. Does the unit refuse to turn on when the bulb is out? Any thoughts? Unit is less than one year old.

Can you tell me what the white silk screen near the blown component says? I bet its "C512" on the power board. This tends to blow that way on these boards. Its a Capacitor that has the value of
474K 450 NIS V02
Basically its a metallized polymer .47uf 450volt capacitor. I may be wrong there, so just use the the digits in bold and spend a little time googling it. There is a possibility this board is replaceable and not for a lot of money either. Not sure where to find it.
Good luck.

I also had the same problem and finally we heard some glass shattering sound. I opened the projector cover and found signs of burning and one part separated ?diode or what I do not know. I can see a small hole on the board possibly where the wire got broke and the piece became separated and resulted in a shattered noise, I suppose.

My InFocus IN76 just started displaying yellow and white dots.

are the dots pixelated or blurred? if they are pixelated, you have a dmd chip issue and will have to replace the whole optical engine. if they are blurred, it is an optics problem, most likely the colorwheel. that can be replaced individually. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it in to one for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good.
