first things first..understanding that this is a gas dryer, is the gas lever handle on the fuel line open?..also, as there is no heat, does the drum turn?..i wish there was more info into your question..assuming that the dryer operates but the only thing missing is the heat, lets start with the most common problem being a broken hot surface ignitor..(2) bad temperature selector switch..(3) faulty limit switch..(4) bad thermostat..(5) faulty timer..(6) bad centrifugal switch..if all of the above pass their tests, you need to make certain that there isn't a build up of dryer lint around the burner. Sometimes, lint will impede the gas flow preventing the unit from igniting.

at first we noticed the dryer wasnt drying! then we saw that the knob was not turning as time went by. we took it apart and started it up and saw a glow from the heating element so figured the problem was the main control switch. we got a new one and now the timer will move but the flame goes on then off on then off you can see the glow of the flame while having the back off the dryer. whats next? dryer part# 3977941....roper gas dryer
