Battery change

The 2032 batteries last about 5 years.
There is a clip on the side of the holder that when pushed to the side releases the two small teeth and the battery will pop up slightly.
Remove and replace by putting one side under the plastic lip opposite the teeth, and then pushing down on the battery. It should snap into place without much force.

Only has keypad to access safe. batteries are dead

Leave it for a week. The batteries might have regenerated just enough to open the door once more.

Otherwise there may be a keyhole beneath the front plate.

If all else fails, you'll have to cut the back out of the safe.

How to reset bios on compaq v2000 laptop

Remove A Cmos Battery From A Compaq V2000 Laptop

The Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) in a computer is responsible for storing hardware settings and time on your computer. The CMOS is powered by a small battery and is able to store information whether your computer is turned on or off. While the standard CMOS battery lasts for up to ten years, you may need to replace your CMOS sooner than that. If you password your BIOS and forget the password or need to reset your configuration back to the default, you can remove the CMOS and re-insert or replace it.

Instructions
1. Unplug the computer from the wall outlet and unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

2. Turn your Compaq Presario V2000 face down and slide the battery release latch to the left to disengage the battery from its position. Remove the battery.

3. Unscrew the screws over the hard drive cover, which is located in the lower right corner of the laptop if your laptop is placed with the battery away from you. Lift the hard drive tab, located on the left side of the hard drive, and slide the hard drive to the left to remove it from the computer.

4. Unscrew the single screw located directly under the optical CD/DVD drive. Insert a very thin item, such as a paper clip or pin, into the hole located on the optical drive to open it. Slide your optical drive out of its tray to remove it.

5. Remove the two screws located on the switch cover, which is directly under the battery. Turn the computer right-side up and open it as wide as it will go. Use a flat tipped screwdriver to lift up the switch cover that is directly above the "F1," "F5," "F11" and "Insert" keys.

6. Unscrew the four screws that hold the keyboard in place. These screws are are located in the upper right corner of the computer under the switch cover that you just removed. Lift the keyboard up and slide it forward until it rests on the palm rest. Unplug the zif connector, which is located directly above the palm rest, to disconnect the keyboard. Lift the keyboard up and out of the laptop.

7. Turn the computer upside down again and remove the memory modules by unscrewing the two screws over the memory compartment located directly below the battery slot. Unclip the two clips located on each side of the memory module to release it from its slot and slide it out of the computer.

8. Unscrew the two screws on the PCI cover directly beneath the memory module. Disconnect the two wireless antennas above the card. Spread the two clips securing the mini PCI card into place and lift the card up and out at a 45-degree angle away from you.

9. Flip the laptop back up on its right side and disconnect the display cable located in the upper left corner above the keyboard area underneath the switch cover you removed earlier. Then remove the two pieces of tape in the upper right corner that hold the wireless antenna in place. Remove the two clips located beneath the tape pieces. Unscrew the two screws on the upper left corner and the two in the upper right corner that hold the display into place. Remove the display assembly.

10. Turn the computer back upside down and remove the remaining 19 screws. Lift the base enclosure straight up out of its place.

11. Locate the CMOS battery, a small circular object, and lift it up out of its place. Leave it out for five minutes and reinsert it to reset your settings. Re-assemble the computer without the battery and plug it into the wall.

How do I change cmoss battery? THNX

The cmos battery is usually a dime shaped battery located on the motherboard inside the computer. It is normally just held in place by a small piece of metal that is under pressure. Open the pc and locate the battery. The location on the motherboard will vary depending on the manufacturer. Use a small screwdriver to release the pressure on the metal piece and the battery should pop out. Always replace with the same model of battery, it will be written on the top of it.

It's easy, but If you haven't ever taken a computer apart or performed any elementary PC repair, Don't try to do anything like this as you might hurt your PC.

  1. Buy a CR2032 battery from a watch shop/electronics shop/computer shop.
  2. Unplug the computer from the power source and ground the computer's chassis with a piece of wire (Safety measure to protect computer from ESD).
  3. Open computer chassis.
  4. Find the battery on the motherboard (exact location can differ between different motherboards): nipunag.jpg

4 beeps but won't come on

4 beeps of equal lenght suggest that system timer is not working, you need to change cmos battery on your laptop. If you are game, that is how you change CMOS battery on your laptop:

1. Switch off computer, remove power cord and battery, turn computer "proper" side up, open and press power button to discharge
2. Open display in full (180 degree), there is small indent on hinge cover, close to hinge on right and left side, slide in little flat (screwdriver will do) and lift right side up, slide cover towards left and remove it, do not lift on both sides simultaneously!
3. Remove two small screws on the top of keyboard, lift keyboard slightly up and towards you, be aware that keys and tabs on keyboard are fragile and difficult to replace! Lift keyboard connector and slide the cable out. it is not really necessary to remove keyboard, but it easy to replace without keyboard being in the way.
4. Find coin battery, disconnect cable from socket by pulling it gently towards the battery. Remove cable from guides and battery from it's seat
5. Replace battery with exact same type, put it back into it's seat, guide wire through and connect it back to the board.
6. Re-connect keyboard cable, place front keyboard tabs into palm rest and screw back two back holding screws
7. slide in left side of hinge cover into place, press from left to right till it click in place.
8. Re-install battery and power cord, switch on computer, re-programe BIOS ito previous state.

This should solve your CMOS batery problem. Of course you can send your laptop to the technician but that will be no fun at all... ;-)

HAD BATTERY FAILURE MESSAGE - NOW COMPUTER WILL NOT EVEN TURN ON??

The battery is a small round silver lithium battery found on the motherboard, it keeps the memory of the bios and the settings from being lost when the computer is turned off, using a very small voltage. If the battery fails the bios then looses all its settings, normally returning the computer to default factory settings and asking you to reset every time the pc is booted, in your your case it would be worth unpluging from the mains and taking the side cover of the pc, find the battery and completly remove it there is just a little spring clip holding it in place, so just use your finger nail press the silver clip backwards towards the plastic rin of the battery holder and the battery should pop upwards allowing you to remove it, then try to boot the pc, if the same thing happens, you will have to change the battery. You can pick up batteries at your local pc store probably for nothing if u ask nicely, insert the new battery and then boot the mechine again. post back and tell me what happens.

You should have heard you copmuter make a sound, Then your MP3 player should be lit up around the pause/play button.

Open my computer, Removable disk F ,Then open the drive on disc F ( which is your mp3 player )

then you have a new window open, you should be able to just drag the music files into the new window which will go directly onto your mp3 player
