Question about Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Not recirculating Went through all the test scenarios, and I got the unit to recirc during the test. However, during a regular cycle, the machine will not circulate water into the load, and it continues as if the clothes are wet. -Water inlets clean -pump will recirc in test mode -pump will dump in rise only (test mode) -during test mode, "0d" appears in display instead of "00". Any help would be appreciated

Re: not recirculating

"0d" refers to an "open door" problem. Need to chceck the lid switch to insure it is functioning properly.

Our Washing machine will not spin out on any spin cycle. Model Number is LWK74AW - 3050

Check the lid switch, if the switch does not make or is bad the unit will not spin.
Worst case scenario is the motor coupling went bad, does it was and agitate ok, but not spin? If everthing else works then It probably is the lid switch

On the regular cycle for Bosch Nexxt 500 series, during the warm or hot cycle the washer interrupts the cycle with error code "E02" and stops washing . . . how can I fix this? I've made sure the door is...

If the unit is fed by both hot and cold it is possible that the single hot valve or one side of the double cold valve is not operating. Maybe a silly question but could one of the taps have been turned off inadvertently?
The other possibilty is that the pump filter or outlet hoses are blocked and the machine cannot empty the detergent water ready to refill with clean rinse water. To test the cold valve put the w/m on a cold wash cycle, open the drawer and check the water flow. To test the other part of the same valve, put the w/m on the rinse cycle that would take the softener or a wash cycle with prewash. Test hot valve by selecting the hottest cycle usually 90 or 95 degrees, check water flow thru drawer. Hope this helps.

Calypso washer - LD Code - clothes still wet

The code on your machine stands for 'Long Drain'. Ld flashes if it takes longer than 5 minutes to pump out water to a point where the operating pressure switch resets. I would bet that the bath mats left a bunch of stuff stuck in the recirculation pump hose, or pump itself, and the water cannot be drained fast enough. Check the intake and exit hoses of the recirc pump. It's easiest to get to the pump through the front panel of the machine(click here). Looks like this: click here. Hope this helps.
(Definitely get under there and check to make sure the pump hoses are not clogged. At $129 it's an expensive fix for a $10 bath mat that clogged up the hose with fuzz. 'know what I'm sayin'' :o) )

BTW, I have the maintenance manual & have experience at replacing the recirc. pump, control board, motor board, touchpad, & lid switch so far.

My Kenmore 80 series washer just started making a loud Aihaiha electrical or motor type noise. This happened during a heavy load cycle. Noise was very loud. When I click to regular, delicate or hand wash....

The following are the reasons for the drum not spinning :-
* Test the lid switch
* Test the timer control
* Test the centrifugal switch
* Test the water level switch
* Inspect the motor coupler
* Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
* Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
* Test the motor
* Inspect the pulley
* Test the transmission

In the case of loud noises in the machine, the drum bearings might have been damaged and might need a replacement. Also do check the leveling of the machine. Good luck.

I have a gwl10 and during the wash cycle there is water coming in but the drain pump keeps running during the fill cycle.

The pump itself is supposed to run during the fill portion of the REGULAR cycle. It is supposed to be mixing the incoming fresh water with your laundry detergent and pouring the solution on your clothes as the tub rotates slowly. If the water is draining out of the machine, then there has been some sort of issue with the DIVERTER VALVE. It either has a broken lever on it or an object has become wedged in it, holding it open all the time. If you try the PERMA PRESS cycle, you will probably find that cycle will work, as it does not use the recirculate function.

I would check the diverter valve first. You can tip the washer back and remove the hose clamps with no tools and shine a light up inside and look for an object. You also can inspect the lever and will clearly see if it is broken.

If the washer needs a diverter valve, the part number is a 426862P and is easy to change. You can get them from Fisher Paykel Parts:

They also have downloadable service manuals (but I have pretty much told you what you need here)
Here is the GWL10 manual:

Hi Alan.. usually if there is a problem where the diverter valve is not sensed by the machine control, it will throw a fault code and beep and not complete the cycle. There should be a tech sheet under the control panel. Did you make sure you properly re-connected the two orange wires on your new diverter valve?
I certainly have encountered several over the years where the control stops puting voltage to the diverter in recirculate mode.

If you want to be able to use all the cycles on the machine, then you need a new control board. That is part #420094USP and can be purchased from Fisher Paykel Parts direct;

If you need to do laundry in the meantime, use the PERMA PRESS wash cycle, it should work for you, as that cycle does not use the diverter valve.

Also inspect your water pump and make sure it isnot wet or leaky, as this can cause the machine control to either short out altogether or lose functionality on some cycls such as you are experiencing.

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Calypso shuts off after 4 secs and restarts

I need to know if the machine does the on-off cycle continuously or does it start to work after the first or second time this happens.
