Hard disk cyclic redundancy check

A cyclic redundancy check error on a hard disk means that part of a file read from the hard disk doesn't match the expected value.

A cyclic redundancy check error, in other words, means that files on your hard drive are corrupted.

Repair a cyclic redundancy check error on a hard disk using the Check Disk tool in Windows.

Click "Start" and click "Computer."

Right-click the hard disk with the cyclic redundancy check error under "Hard Disk Drives" and click "Properties."

Click the "Tools" tab at the top of the hard disk "Properties" window.

Click "Check Now" under "Error Checking."

Select "Automatically Fix File System Errors" and "Scan for and Attempt Recovery of Bad Sectors" in the "Check Disk" window by clicking each option if it isn't already selected.

Start a disk check and repair by clicking "Start" in the "Check Disk" window.

Click "Yes" if the "Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?" prompt appears.

A disk can't be checked if it's in use, so you'll need to restart Windows to check it.

Restart your computer by clicking "Start," clicking the arrow icon to the right of "Shut Down" and clicking "Restart."

Fix a Cycle Redundancy Check Error

The "Cyclic Redundancy Check" error is a Windows error message telling you there's a problem reading data you're trying to access.

The root of this problem could either be a damaged storage device or a corrupt file.

Windows has built-in tools to attempt to fix to this problem, and avoid further errors.

Click on the "Start" menu in the bottom left-hand corner and click "Run."

Type in "cmd" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

This will open a black command prompt box.

Type in "chkdsk /f" and press "Enter."

If you receive a message saying the disk will be checked the next time the system starts, press "Y" and then "Enter."

Restart your computer by closing the command prompt box and selecting "Shut Down" from the Start menu.

Wait for the disk scan to reach 100 per cent.

This may take awhile.

When it completes, your drive errors may be fixed.

Avoid future problems with this type of error by replacing the file that caused the problem.

For example, if you got the error when using a text document, open the document and copy all the text (press "Ctrl" and "A" at the same time and then "Ctrl" and "C" at the same time).

Create a new text document and paste the text in by pressing "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously. Save the new file, and delete the old document.

Hope this heps

KDL52EX700 shuts down and restarts

If it is showing a blue scree of death (BSOD) and shuts down before you can read the error message try this:
Turn the computer off, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Scroll down below Safe Mode and you will see an option to Disable Automatic Restart. Select it and reboot your machine. Next time it boots up you will be able to read the error message. You'll probably need a system disc or repair disc to fix the blue screen error message.

Ejecting a Stuck CD in Mac OSX

  • First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
  • If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
  • Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
  • If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
  • Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
  • Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
  • Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
  • Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
  • Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. )
  • If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

Installed photoshop 7 on my laptop and everytime I start the program and click on editor, it tells me the program will automatically shut down. Is there a fix for this problem?

The error telling you that Photoshop 'will automatically shut down' is a waterd-down way of telling you there was a critical error and that it was not able to open. There appears to be a corruption in your Photoshop installation.

I would recomend uninstalling Photoshop 7 and then re-installing it again as follows:

- Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (or 'Programs' in Vista or Win7)
- Locate Adobe Photoshop 7 and click on it and select Uninstall.
- When it has completed, restart your PC.
- Once restarted, re-install Photoshop 7 via the CD/DVD.

Hope this helps,
-Tor

Opening and closing disc conpartment

Is there any game disc inside? If there is any, please try to remove it first. After removing the game disc, turn off your console, unplug from the power source then remove and reattach the hard drive. Make sure that you hear the clicking sound when you reattach your hard drive. Then plug the console again, turn it back on. Make sure that the console is well ventilated.

After turning on the console, go to the Memory, on the Xbox 360 Controller, press the following items in this sequence:
• X button
• X button
• Left bumper (LB)
• Right bumper (RB)
• X button
• X button
When you are prompted to confirm system maintenance, select Yes by pressing the A button. This will be clearing the cache of your xbox console.

If the game disc is still not reading, try cleaning your game disk or exchanging the disk at the retail store for another copy.

If the issue still persist, try answering the following: Do you receive an error message, does the console fully lockup, or does the action on screen slow down but the game still plays?

Model No'DMR-ES15 - U61problem

I get this message occasionally on my Panasonic DMR-ES15. It's actually a really simple fix. It occurs when there is a corruption in the disc which causes the recording mechanism to malfunction. There is a separate error message for this, however it is usually not detected until it's too late. When the recorder asks you to carry out the recovery process, do it. When the disc ejects, make sure you take the disc out that was in there when it occured and throw it away...it will keep happening because the disc is permanently corrupted. However, do not close the tray without a disc or the self-check will fail. Instead pop in a disc of the same format that the error occured in (if it was DVD+RW then put in a DVD+RW). It resolves the problem every time on the first try. (It only happened two times in a year and a half for me). As the manual says the unit is "NOT BROKEN".
