Question about Toshiba 55H70 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Toshba CF27E50/CF30E50/CF32E50 My rear projection TV with about numbers listed on the owners manual, suddenly went weird the other day. There is an arc from the middle of the picture on bottom to the left and the red and blue are split. Across the top the red/blue or convergence is like a vibration and not aligned. After reading on this I would guess it is the convergence IC or IC's. Can these be bought online or from somewhere close to me in Dallas? Do you think I will save alot from letting a repairman do this? Should I expect this to happen again? The TV is only 5 years old. Thanks for any help.

The convergence IC needed are STK 392-110 two of them and possibly a resistor or two If you don't know how to unsolder and solder I would suggest an honest repairman. most Parts distributors won't sell unless you have a business but you could try anyway. A volt-ohm meter is required "IF" a resistor needs to be checked or is burned. Convergence IC's are a common problem with all projection tv's. It may last another 5 years especially if you don't buy the generic ic's

Need the code for toshiba tv

Google search with the model number of the unit for "manual" for a owner manual with a possible list of codes to try. Remember that universals have a limited number of codes built into them--may or may not have the one you need.

Projection TV Phillps 60PP9202/17F, bought 2004. Was watching and suddenly the picture went out. All connections are good and components work. Can you help?

If there is no power at all, then it is either the power cord or power board inside the TV.

If after the fault the TV went in standby and does not wake up, then the TV is in protect mode.

In protect mode higher voltages from PSU gets shut down and TV remains in standby.(see also Why my TV does not start up and remains in...)

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so. Then connect powr

If that does not work, and you keep having the TV in protect mode, it means that there is a fault.

In that case call the support number listed on Philips user manual to arrange repair.

If you are a technician I can try locating parts, service manual and giving more directions. Common faults that affect a Philips rear projections are convergence, PSU board, lamp and ballast assembly.

TV made popping sound and then shut off

You need to look in your owners manual for the telephone number and order a new bulb. It should cost about $200, but they will ship it overnight and minimize your downtime.

I've replaced 2 in my WD-52525 in the last 3 years, the first one went like yours did, very suddenly, with an audible POP!! The second one was preceded by an orange warning light, which the book says is a warning that the bulb has about 20 hours left on it.

To replace the bulb, UNPLUG THE TV, remove the left speaker screen, with a philips screw driver unscrew the bulb, pull it out by the handle, then replace it with the same type, in reverse order. This is a very easy replacement that does NOT need to be done by a service technician to complete.
