I have a bottom freezer GE Fridge Model GDL20KCSABS. Bought the fridge brand new and after about a year the ice maker stopped making ice except for the occasional phantom ice that is makes like once ever month :) I have checked the water line and it is getting water. I called GE and they said to check the filter, but this model does not have a filter, so they wanted to send a repair guy out. We have very hard water, so I believe that there is some build up in the little blue bulb where the water attaches and is preventing the water getting through.

Well for one thing that unit was manufactured 10 years ago. But it sounds like the defrost drain is clogged and the water is running down the inside of the unit. The evaporator (not condenser) is on the bottom of the freezer compartment. The bottom panel of the freezer comes out. They are a bit of a pain to do, but can be done.
Hi i have a rangemaster s x s fridge freezer and the ice maker has stopped and now the whole fridge freezer has stopped. its 2 years old and out of warrenty can anyone help please with a suggestions as to whats wrong.
This might sound like a silly question but... is the water line connected on the back of the appliance? If so you may have something stuck in the water line, or a bad valve that is not allowing water to flow. Hope this helps.
clean the coil behind the fridge or under the fridge (where ever they are) and make sure both fans are running, the one in the freezer and the one underneath freezer needs to be 0 degree F to start ice maker
Hello dunc444444 Welcome, You said, Bottom freezer works fine, but upper refrigerator has no cold air
Is your freezer so full that it is packed to the top especially in the rear? Refrigerators and freezers share the air from the compressor and travel through vents in the rear of the freezer and fridge. Sometimes it can effect the cooling in the fridge if the freezer articles block the vents!
The water overfilling in the ice maker is an ice maker problem only. When we install an ice maker there is a short white plastic tube that we push through the rear hole of the fridge which supply's the water to the maker, the outside water line attaches to this. That tube we push through the fridge must go in till it stops. And empties in to a little sistran at the rear of the ice maker. Make sure it did not sip out or backwards a little when you may have moved rolled the fridge out to clean under it!
Also you need periodically to remove the front grill down in front of the fridge and gently run a refrigerator brush under the coils to clean out the dust that may block air flow over the coils.(the coils are metal black tubes that run back and forth along the bottom of your fridge. The vacuum will not reach in to that tight space. That's why they make a special brush for this chore. Let me know how you do? Huuum {
