Re: dark picture

If you can find it inside the set you need to replace R14700. This is the location number written on one of the boards. It is a 27K resistor at 1/2 watt. There was a bulletin by RCA on this problem

Since not a brand or model number listed : If its a LCD set get a flashlight and make the room very dark with the set on. Shine the light on the screen at an angle to see if you see a faint image of the picture on the screen.

Best solution to improve picture quality. Screen

Try to turn the contrast down. It can really help out a lot. If this is not working look up your tv's best settings. has some great settings under the forums.

If all else fails but a calibration dvd and go thru the settings. Some dreamworks and disney dvds even have them right under the disc extras. Hope I could help!

by the way, remember to cut some of the light in your room if it is well lit. It will help make the picture look better as your eyes can distiguse the light and darks better

The tv seems really dark.57in theatrewide hd toshiba

Go into the tv menu and select the Preferences menu and set your picutre preference from Theater to Normal. The TV is currently in Theater mode, wich is for viewing with no lights on in the room. Switching it to normal lightens the pictue a lot.

If the tv looks now dark this is the first symptom of a lamp replacement (refer to the user's manual to do this job) and get a Mitsubishi original replacement.
the best picture setting (when the lamp is back of course) depends in the light of the room.
Now if after replacing de lamp and playing with the settings and the screen still pale, dimm, not enought color. a cleanning in the reflexion area is needed. (technican job)

Dark background blue tint

Try the Magic Focus option on the menu screen found under "Picture". Make sure the TV is on for 20 minutes before activating this option. It is also best to run this when the room is dark.

I have a phillips magnovox big screen (March 2000) model # 9P6444 C103 - the picture is very dark and is best watched with the room lights off... what needs to be replaced or fixed?

The coolant fluid in the blue and green picture tubes is in need of changing.Unless you have done this before I do not recommend that you attempt this repair.A shop shoud be able to make this set look like new again for about $275

Projection TV when turned on picture is dark can view slight images until dinning room light is turned on

Try hooking the TV to a different outlet fed by a different breaker. Does the problem go away? If so, the culprit may be a wiring problem in your house that is causing the TV not to get enough power unless the dining room light is on.If in doubt, consult an electrician to make sure both the dining room light and TV outlet circuits are working properly.

Dark over night

Does the TV have a light sensor? If so, turn it off.
The light sensor limits the backlights intensity at night or when it's dark in your room in order for better vieweing convenience.

If you are in a dark environment, it really pains your eyes when the view is too bright. Same works the other way around. If it's day, and light in your room. The light sensor will dimm the backlight for it isn't needed.

Let me know if this solved your question.
