Problem for Nintendo DS Lite

Quit working, won't take a charge

DS quit working, won't take a charge. About 2-3 weeks before my son dropped a coke near it. It was closed. It got wet on outside, but was quickly wiped off. It seemed to be working well, with no problems. I don't think it was harmed at all, unless it took the 3 weeks to damage it. What do you think? It was charging just fine until then, as far as I can tell. Does it need a new battery? If so, where to buy?
