the knob that turns the radio on and off is the volume potentiaometer.turn it 1/2 wayopen.the next knob is the squelch maqke sure it is all the to the left.the next knob is the mic gain and the RF gain.Set the mic gain at 1/2 and the RF gain all the to the right.the next knob is the delta tune, set it 1/2 way the next knob is the calibration knob leave it alone. Now above those knobs are little switches .the third switch from the left is for CB/PA make sure its on CB. check the WX switch and make sure it not on a weather station. and finally the last switch to the right is called a dynamic squelch switch.Make sure it is down. with all said your radio should be on and you should be able to hear sound. If not ,take an external speaker and hook it to the external speaker plug in the back of the radio. If you hear something then you internal speaker is junk.replace it .
You've probably already done this, but make sure all the basic settings are correct. CB-PA switch is in CB mode, Squelch is turned to the left, RF Gain is turned to the right, etc. After all that, and you still have nothing, I would try using another microphone. If you have a spare mic or a friend with a spare mic, borrow it. Just make sure its wired the same as yours is. (If it's a cobra 4-pin, it most likely will work.) Now if that doesn't fix it, then the most likely problem is in the MIC/AUDIO circuit. You'll need someone with experience to replace the necessary parts. In radio troubleshooting, always start with the basics: Correct Connections Proper input Voltage (Power) Correct Settings (Vol, Sql, RF-G, etc) Antenna (properly matched) I hope this helps a little...
Vibrations on the small cb's make the internal circuit boards come loose and its intermitted or will not RX or TX.. Check the antenna with another cb. using an SWR METER.. or have someone check it.. SWR should be free if you take it to them.. to check.. Make sure the antenna, mounts, and coax are ok.. if soo then its in the cb itself .. Email us if you need more help or need the radio looked at, the post office has flat rate boxes cheap nowadays. were in Temple, TX at the CB SHop.
Hi, my name is John. Try putting the unit on PA and PA speaker plugged in the back, try another cobra mic on it, if that does not do it, then we will look at the audio chip. Let me know how it goes, I will post the tools needed and procedure here. Hope this was very helpful....Rate this solution on the four thumbs-up....... John
WX is for weather. If you put it on WX, and you do not hear anything, then you need to change the weather station it is on. in wx mode, you change weather channels by pressing channel up and down. To communicate with 2 way, press the cb/wx button so it is on CB mode.
