The solution to your problem is to first connect your iPod to your computer. Let iTunes load (or open it) and navigate to your iPod's icon. You will need to hit the "Restore" option after backing up your music and data.

Make sure that the file you want to play is on an mp3 format, if not make sure to convert the file to make it play.

when you installed itunes did you check the box where it asked you to automatically eject ipod or manually eject?

the best way to learn how to use your ipod is just play with it. the first thing you want to do is load the itunes software off the disc that came with it. if you do not have the disc, you can download the most updated software off of Apple's website. once the software is completely installed, you can start transfering music/video to itunes. once you plug your ipod into the computer. most likely, it will automatically load anything you have checked. hopefully this will help get you started.

my friend had a similar problem... he was adviced to format using MAC... and it worked for him.....
