Question about Samsung HP-S5053 Television

Samsung HP S5053 Static / Grainy Image

Hi, I have had my Samsung S5053 for about a year and a half (and I have the Best Buy extended warranty). For about the first year, the picture was FLAWLESS. Now, when I turn the TV on, the picture is filled with Static for a while, and then all of a sudden, the picture corrects, and it's perfect again. I've changed some components in the past year, and added a Monster PowerBar (model 1100 I believe). It doesn't seem to have to do with my input (TivoHD), as the picture problem doesn't get solved by switching to DVD. Any solutions or suggestions?

Try to adjust the Vscan or/and Vs down about 5-10V on the Power Supply board. If you got extended warranty, just let the warranty depot shop help you to do it.

For the "humming" noise, may need to replace the Power Supply board to fix it.

Check settings in menu for correctness. Change input device to something you know works for sure. If problem persists, it might need attention by a qualified service technician.

Samsung s5053 red screen

Its a Plasma made around 6 years ago--the only simple thing is if you are using a box with component output for signal to it--unplug the box and wait and plug the box back to see if it will reboot.

If a DVD works with no problem you have either a box issue or something very odd wrong.

Hi, After 4 years long, my Plasma decided to have some blinking black the top half of the screen after watching tv for 10 min. Can you please point me to the right direction on what to replace? Many...

The first thing I would do if it were mine (and I'm a tech) and had those symptoms would be to clean the ribbon cables coming from the upper Y drive board. That's the skinny one on the left side to the left of the Y main. Be careful, if you damage the ribbon then you throw the set out. If that doesn't cure it then you can look at the Y Main. There are some small silver tin-can type capacitors towards the top that quite often go bad. If you have a cap checker that will make it a whole lot easier and faster. I can't see replacing the whole board for a few bad parts.

Hi, My Samsung hp s5053 plasma is broke anyone can help me please!

A TV repair shop is your best bet - the problem is likely the power supply - check the fuse.

It appears that the Main bd is bad. Try using Component cables instead of the HDMI cables and see if there is a change. If there is a change to normal picture then try another HDMI cable. If the problem returns then replace the Main bd. There three Main bds for this basic model number. You will need the version# found on the right side of the set to order the correct bd.

Top half of screen going black.

I've seen this or something similar to this problem on an old lcd screen. The bulb haden't burned out but the system was no longer getting proper 5 volts to the processor chip that processed the image. I ended up desoldering the voltage regulator and soldering a new regulator in it's place it was one with the same amperage so I put a heatsink on it to reduce the chance of another failure.

Image is grany every time tv is cold.

I had the same problem. Except mine never got better after the tv warmed up. I fortunately I still have my manufacturers warranty and Samsung sent a guy out within a few days. He replaced a few parts which really didn't do anything. However what he did that was interesting was on two circuit boards. One on the mid left and the other on the mid right. Apparently there is a nob or something he tweaked on each panel that cleared the grainy image right up. What he told me was that the it is basically pixels that are not turning off in sync. adjusting the two circuit boards syncs the pixels to turn on and off at the same time.
