I took the 128MB Sandisk SDSM-128 card out of my Olympus D-550 and now can't get it back in even following your instructions. It just firmly stops halfway in. Notch at top, gold contact area facing back of camera

The Olympus Camedia D-540 takes an xD-Picture Card. With the camera facing away from you and the card slot to your right, hold the card so that the notch is at the top and the contact area is facing you.

• Insert the card while keeping it straight.
• The card stops with a click when it is inserted all the way.
• Inserting the card the wrong way or at an angle could damage the contact area or cause the card to jam.
• If the card is not inserted all the way, data may not be written to the card.

Xd picture card will not click into place on Olympus e-420. Results in prompt "card reader error."

Are you sure it is a xD card and not an SDXC?

Then there should be a little arrow, pointing in the direction it should be going while inserting.
Try to eject the card and reinsert the card.
If you never used a xD card, and nobody else ever tried to put something in the slot, the card should go in smooth.
After placing the card, don't forget to format the card in the camera.

Camera takes pictures without memory card but won't when memory card is in, why

What type and size memory card? The C653 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. Even though SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work with this camera.

Memory card problem

Please remove the memory card and see if there is any object that blocks the card. If possible try the card on another camera slot or laptop slot. If this seems good then blows out any dirt from within the slot, tap with the slot on your palm.

I have a samsung diva mobile, for some reason it won't let me format my sd card via my mobile and the phone doesn't seem too recognise the sd card

Welcome to Fixya

Try to insert the card first to your computer that has a memory card slot reader. If the computer did not recognize the card then the problem is the card already.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Why won't my Olympus sp-600UZ accept my memory card. It' keeps tell me error can't read card

Ok try this for you to determine if your memory card is defective or not, try to insert your card to a device that support the type of memory card you have. Then if it still doesn't work i assume your memory card is defective. But if the memory will work try to insert other memory card on your camera for you to determine if your camera memory slot has a problem. Reply to this post post if this helpful or not and dont forget to vote Tnx for using Fixya

Switch on camera and soon after a message comes up on screen " memory card error please chech the card" check card in another camera card ok. Put another card in camera and got the same message.

It seems maybe there is something wrong with your card slot or the card type isn't suitable for your camera(else you have use before), such as the size of card (some old camera won't use large SD card). Here maybe something help you: digital cameras after holidays

I get a "Memory card error" message on my SD750?what could be the problem with my card and can it be solved?

The reason there is an error message on your memory card is because the memory card might have been damaged or probably not inserted properly.

To find out if the memory card is damaged, try to use the memory card in other devices that supports the memory card to see if it works. If it works on other devices, then the problem if from the card reader that is in the camera, and if it does not work, then the memory card is faulty. And the only solution is to replace the memory card.

To test the slot in the camera, try a tested okay memory card on it, if it does not work then the slot is faulty and to solve this problem, i will strongly advice you take the camera to a camera repair guy to clean the slot for you.

Memory card works in PC but not in my Nikon camera.

you have to set the setting on the camera to write to card and not to camera internal memory, look at the manual about that, if not post again

I need help

Firstly, take out the card then switch on your camera and see if th message still comes up. It may be a problem with the memory card. Put memory card into pc slot and save all photos from it so that you can format the memory card. There may just be a file folder or photo that for some reason it cannot read. If it all works well without the card then I suspect something wrong with either the card or the content. New cards are easy to get.
