i have a dell d505 and its not charging, i thought that i needed a new battery, so i bought one, its not the problem, its plugged in to eletricty, but the battery is almost drained

Check the charging circuit on your laptop it might be dead or they might be a faulty component on the circuit board

Use a toothbrush and clean the contact on the the battery and the computer.Try to charge the battery again.
