    Exactly same problem here.

Same here as my Sony KV35V35 of 11 years will not turn on, no video or audio. The fuse looks good on the power supply PCB. The TV stopped working while on and I am trying to find a schematic to troubleshoot it to determine if it is the power supply.

Sony kv 35v35 was on and shut off by itself, now it won't turn on.
The power outlet is fine. TV is 11 years old.

I was watching my 10 year old Sony Trinitron 32" and the power suddenly went off and won't come back on. No noise or lights - nothing. Is it worth it to get it fixed? I tried unplugging it and replugging - but nothing. Plug is fine as DVD still goes on.

My KV35V35 has the same proble,. Suddenly no power and won't turn on.

  • cyntiki Oct 14, 2008

    The TV went off.

At first I thought the electric had went out again as there was a bad electrical storm last night.I pride myself that all good electrical equpiment is attached and protected by my surge chargers.

It was not the electric,no plug in's were disconnected, everything still hooked up tightly.

    I manually tried the TV.
I plugged just the TV in another outlet.
The remote would not turn it on,changed the batteries, still nada.

The TV I believe is dead.

Now I have a useless monster in my front room and I gave the little TV that at least did work too the lady next door.

I can not even watch VCR tapes now with a powerless dead in the water Monster.

Yep,beautiful picture, sound just perfect. The cat jumped behind the TV and I heard a noise and the Tron went dead.

    Power button does not work.

All cable and power lines fine.

    This is S***

Went to turn TV on, nothing, no lights, no sound, remote nor manual power not working. Little fuse inside back looks good. Just totally dead. Nothing.

Fresh batteries in remote, no luck. Totally nothing. Is it worth a service call? I see lots of people with the same problem with the Sony KV-35V35. Has anyone gotten any answers??? Help....

When I turn the tv on it shuts right back down. I changed the power source and disconnected everything from the tv and it still wont stay on.

I had a Viso do this as well ... I learned that there is a fuse inside. I opened the TV and inspected the fuse ... the fuse checked out ok so I put it back together .... it came on an started working as it should after that! Try unplugging the TV from the wall then push and hold the on button to help drain any power out of the set. While you have it unplugged inspect all of the vent holes to be sure they are clean for proper air flow as over heating and shut down could occur if blocked. If you see dust build up use your vacuum to clean them out. Hook the TV back to power and see what happens.

That's best case senerio .... It could also be that some capacitors have gone bad in the set ... this would also cause this type of behavior. If you are not able to replace something like that on your own it may not be cost effective to fix. Good luck.

Samsung 650 series fflat screen turn power on tv turns it self on and off many times by itself befor it stays on now it wont stay on only turns on and off

My research indicated that the problem is related to the power supply over heating. My wife suggested that we place our small 6" fan behind the tv. We did & the tv has not shut off for three days. Hope this works for you.

You didn't do anything to cause this. The thing is that there are several possible causes for this problem. They include convergence circuit failures, power supply/regulator issues and deflection/high voltage malfunctions. The only way to determine the cause is to have an hitachi authorized servicer out to diagnose this. Be aware that the repair costs could be $300-$600 depending on which circuit is causing the failure.

It might be time for a flat panel LCD!

Sorry, but there is not much you can do at this point. Could be a number of things. Convergance chips shorted, power supply bad. Horizontal circuit shorted. T.V's sence a problem and shut off. They hardly ever blow a fuse anymore. Problem is Magnavox sets are very poorly built and have a ton of different problems. Then you have other sets like Toshiba or Sony that only have one specific problem, and chances are that's what is wrong. I usually tell people not to waste their money on fixing Magnavox. We call them Maggot-Box. They used to be good when NAP owned them. They gave techs all kinds of help and service literature....They were great. Now a days...The absolute worst company out there!! MOST repair shops won't touch them. They just don't hold up to repairs.
