Noisy clutch The engine sounds like it is running smooth when the clutch is engaged, but when you release it it sounds like a metal rubbing sound. Something like a bearing going bad maybe. Any info would be helpful, thanks. Caleb

The metal on metal sound may be a failed throw out bearing. If there is no sound when you do not use the clutch pedal but it start when you put your foot on the clutch then it is the bearing. I suspect that you will have to pull the gear box and have a clutch kit fitted along with a new clutch throw out bearing.
Hi There.
sounds like your release bearing has either collapsed or seized, either way you will have to drop the gear box and check it out... should'nt be a problem on a 1999 fiesta. just be careful not to pop a drive shaft and lose the transmission fluic on the floor.
Good Luck
it sounds to me like your brakes are at the wear limit and a metal tab that is built into the pad rubs the rotor to make the driver aware that he needs brake service(new pads). Other possibility is a wheel bearing going out: jack up car and turn wheel slowly to feel if the motion is smooth or rough and noisy, do not confuse with brake drag or noise
It sounds like an internal transmission problem The syncronizer that slows down or speeds up the gear to make a smooth engagement has wore down. There is no easy fix. The transmission has to come out of the vehicle and be repaired or replaced with a good used or rebuilt one.
