Please intimate exact model number of TV written on sticker pasted at back of your TV to find out any solution for you.

By your description it is hard to say. It could be the LCD Panel or a Main Board. Either one could cause the problem.
I recommend you to call Sony to see if they could get you in touch with a local Service Facility so they could better diagnose it. Sony may also be willing to help with repairs if the unit is out of warranty.
