Camera comes on, says card is locked

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My camera says "card locked"

Remove the memory card and you will find a switch on the left side of the card. It must be locked, so slide or push the lock on other side to open it and then insert the card back to the Camera.

My memory card says card locked, so I checked it and it wasn't locked.... I slid it fully the other way and then back, but it didn't change. I also tried putting in my sisters memory card in it, and it...

When you insert the card, a "feeler" comes forward and either bumps into the slide switch or goes into the empty space. This is the way it determines if your card is locked. It's possible that the feeler is in the out position and needs to be pushed back in. You could also try putting a piece of tape around the slide switch covering up both the switch and the empty space. Be don't want the tape coming off in the slot. If that changes anything, your card may work after that.

"Card Locked"

There's a small switch on the memory card reader inside the camera which detects that the card is locked. Most likely this switch is broken. You can try to point it with needle or something but I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair to a local repair shop or Canon service center.

Cant take photos and the LCD screen says "Memory card is locked. Slide lock to 'write' position"

I don't own this camera but My guess is your memory card is in a LOCK SETTING you need to move the memory card to unlocked " wrirte " so you memory card isn't locked.....
Step 1 remove the card from you're camera
Step 2 there is a small little side on the side of the memory chip move that to the unlock position.
step 3 insert the card and start shooting!

There should be a small toggle along the end side (it is tiny and easily missed, but it is there, I just checked my memory card / mine is 4GB SD card from Sony) that you can swtich to unlock and your images may come back that way.

Look for it this way, hold the card face down it should be on the back edge where you use your thumb or finger to push it into the slot on your camera.

Take the card out. On the left side of the card is a tiny white switch. Reverse the position.

Memory card locked

I noticed that this camera does not work well with cheaper memory cards. The only brand that works without fail is the SanDisk brand.
