Hi, I have the same exact problem as what someone else typed below. I do not think I have a recovery disk.

I continue to get this error message (as if it is in a loop, and can’t get out.)

Windows didn’t start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. [nope]

"If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files or folders, choose “Last Known Good Configuration” to revert to your most recent settings that worked.

"If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure, or a Power, or a Reset button being pressed, or if you aren’t sure what caused the problem, choose “Start Windows Normally.”

    [choices]

    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode with Networking
    Safe mode with Command Prompt
    Last Known Good Configuration
    Start Windows Normally

Okay. Regardless which option I choose above, it loops, and returns to this page.

What type of dual core processor can I use for my dc7600?

The motherboard for the dc7600 has an Intel LGA775 processor socket. However, not all LGA775 processors are compatible with the motherboard. For the small form factor, the following CPUs are supported: Intel Celeron D Processors:
Intel Celeron D 331 Processor (2.66-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 336 Processor (2.80-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 346 Processor (3.06-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium 4 Processors with HT Technology:
Intel Pentium 4 521 Processor (2.8-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 524 Processor (3.06-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 541 Processor (3.2-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 620 Processor (2.8-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 631 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 640 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 641 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 650 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 651 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 661 Processor (3.6-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) or
Intel Pentium D Dual Core Processors:
Intel Pentium D 805 Dual Core Processor (2.66-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 915 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 925 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 930 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 940 Dual Core Processor (3.2-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 945 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 950 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

Unfortunately, these are old processors and I don't see any available new. Newegg.com lists a couple available as refurbished. You may be better off getting a new computer with either a Intel I3 or current AMD processor.

I wish that I had better news for you.

(do not attempt to use a CPU that your motherboard doesn't support. It probably won't boot.)

Need apower supply and hard drive for my compaq presario 1103WM. how old is this unit

It must be up to 8 years old ish as it has XP installed.

17-inch flat screen CRT monitor NEW* Intel Celeron D Processor 3252.53 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 256 KB L2 cache 256 MB DDR SDRAM CD-RW (48x32x48) 40 GB hard drive 9-in-1 memory card reader 10/100Base-T networking interfaceIntegrated graphics with 64 MB shared video memory *The new Celeron D processors are more efficient than the old Celeron processors. The New 325 D benchmarks faster than the old Celeron 2.7 GHz processor.

Almost any IDE hard drive will work, up to 540Gb and any reasonable power supply should be OK. Check ebay and also google for a power supply.
Hope that helps.

I need the processor

Hi.
The emachines t2958 has a celeron D processor 2.66ghz with a 256KB L2 cache and 533 FSB.

The fastest processor that you can go with is a pentium4 3.06 ghz, with a 1 MB L2 cache amd 533 FSB.

Not a huge improvement, but an improvement none the less.

I would go with uphrading the memory, it comes with 1 stick of 512 mb pc2100 ram, there is a second slot available, bumping you up to 1 gig of ram.

That will actually give you a better performance boost that the processor upgrade, and is probably cheaper as well.

I hope this clears things up for you.

I need emachine etower 600is intel processor

The eMachines eTower 600is uses an Intel Celeron III processor that operates at a maximum frequency rate of 600MegaHertz. (600MHz)

http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=eTower%20Series&model=eTower_600is

The Intel Celeron 600 uses a Socket 370 processor socket.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Celeron_microprocessors#.22Coppermine-128.22_.28180_nm.29

There is a locking arm on the side of the Socket 370 processor socket, that is unlocked by easing the arm over to one side to clear a lock tab, then the arm is lifted up to remove the processor.

Example of a Socket 370 processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_370

The eMachines eTower 600is uses an Intel 810 chipset, for the motherboard chipset.
[Chip and Chipset are slang terms used for Integrated Circuit, or IC]

The Intel 810 chipset, supports processors with a 66MegaHertz Front Side Bus. (66MHz FSB), or 100MHz FSB.

In an additional link, I will give a recommendation of where to buy an Intel Celeron 600, that uses a 66MHz FSB.
I'm not advertising for this place, it's just a place I have used, and have had good results.

Also information on the Intel 810 chipset.

You could also use an Intel Celeron 700MHz processor, but better still you could use an Intel Pentium III 933MHz processor.

Pentium's typically have Two times, the L2 cache that a comparable Celeron has.The more L2 cache a processor has, the faster it's going to process information.

I also know it will work because out in my shop I have an eMachines T1090, that has an Intel 810 chipset, uses a Socket 370 processor socket, and has an Intel Pentium III 933MHz processor in it.
(Made in 2001, and still works good to this day)

The Intel Pentium III 933MHz processor uses a 100MHz FSB.
The Intel 810 chipset supports processors that have either a 66MHz FSB, or a 100MHz FSB.

If you are not familiar with computer hardware technology, then I have just thrown a whole lot of information at you that is unfamiliar.

Should you like me to break down the information, I would be glad to. Just state so in a Comment.

CPU compatability

It is not compatible. If your fsb is 533mhz then any replacement cpu would need to be a 533mhz fsb chip. This is unless your motherboard supports different fsb's. You will need to check your manual or the manufacturers website to see what cpu's your system supports. Hope this helps.
