The thing is, it seems as though there's no way to solve the problem other than to use a jackhammer as a stylus and smash the whole thing to pieces.

  • CullenCakes Mar 08, 2009

I have the exact same problem! I've cleaned it, took the batteries out and NOTHING has worked. The squares just keep going around over and over.

  • Anonymous Apr 13, 2009

Same problem but I'm going to replace the touch screen myself. It costs under £15 and I've already had it apart to replace the entire case - something anyone with a steady hand can do.

The only possible fix is to try to clean the edges of the screen in case any particles are trapped between the screen and the case, this can confuse the touch screen.

Do this with a soft toothbrush, it will not damage the screen.

If that doesnt work then in all likelihood the screen is broken, it can be replaced but this is not trivial. There are guides on the internet on how do do this.

I tried the tapping the calibration screen real hard and fast when calibrating, that completed the test for me at least, previously id been going for like 10 mins with no luck. The 4 crosshairs once the calibration screen finished were not lighting up but now it seems to be accurate. i also done the toothbrush cleaning which i think sorted it. try these things!

I thought I had this problem, But for me all I had to do was keep touching the the red square, it took ages but it finally worked. (:

I had that problem too, bit found out that if you actually "tap" as in touch the screen REALLY quickly and do the process fast as possible itll make the stupid calibration finish

Just buy a new one or go to a game shop and ask the people if they can fix it

I think there is something in the edges of the touch screen. your best bet is to see a game repair shop or save up more for a new one.

If you have a screen saver (plastic film over screen) it may not work properly

Try and get it repaired or go to the retailer and exchange it for a new one.

Omg you just keep touching "the red square" a few times in then it will say calibration is complete

My daughters ds lite has a few problems. The calibration is out and wont fix when i calibrate it. It wont play ds games but will play gameboy games. Please could you tell me if these problems cn be fixed?

The touch screen may be faulty but can be replaced. The SLOT 1 game slot may have bent pins or broken pins. Bent pins can be easily fixed (with care and patience) but replacing the SLOT 1 or the touch screen is quite difficult. It is probably repairable but only by someone who knows what they are doing.

Calibrate ds lite

If you would like to calibrate your screen...
Turn the DS on without a DS card inserted (or with auto mode turned off).
Then touch the DS icon in the bottom middle of the screen.
Press the far right yellow icon, with a crosshair in it.
You will then be taken to the calibrate screen.
Touch the small red squares on the screen as they appear.

Press confirm, exit menu.

Calibrate touch screen

Actually, the red cross's movement is part of the calibration. Continue clicking each individual red cross until you get a confirmation notion notice.

In order to calibrate the touch screen, the DS needs to know where certain areas of the touch screen are relative to the actual display. Basically, you're not really controlling the display. You are interacting with a hidden interface, which is the touch screen. But in order for you to "interact" with what you are seeing, the touch screen is laid across the display.

Nintendo ds touch screen

i had the same problem and have now fixed it succesfully the touch screen works like a grid and is overlayed onto an lcd screen so that when you touch the screen it makes a conection within the grid so that the machine knows where you are touching .....if one of these grids are broken you will never calibrate your screen as the ds doesnt recognise what you are touching .....in short the answer is to replace your touch screen
