Re: samsung 61" HDT5087S/HL

On my HLN617W I had nearly the same thing happen. The tv just shut off one day and when I would try to turn back on again the lamp light would blink a couple of times and shut back off again. I paid for an in-home diagnosis and the guy said that one of the components on the power supply has gone out and that he would need to take the tv to the shop to repair. I'd like to see about buying a power supply module and replacing myself. I'll see.

First when I turn it on it's okay for a few minutes ,then it starts to flicker and shuts off.Three lights are on Standby/Temp/Lamp Temp and Lamp lights are blinking.

Try unplugging the TV. Remove the back panel and vacuum the dust out. Sounds like the unit may be overheating and the thermal shutoff is operating to prevent fire. Be careful not to move the projection lenses out of alignment. It is also a good time to clean those lenses carefully. It will improve your picture a lot.

I was watching tv then heard a loud crashing or smashing sound, then the tv went black. Now there is no picture and the lamp light on the front of the tv keep blinking.

Sounds like your color wheel is busted...

This was not an expensive part nor too much of a complicated process on my hl-r5067w (see here:, but you'll need to figure out part source and process differences on yours.

Good luck!

Had a power outage while watching tv. Then 3 blinking lights.

This is an on-going problem with DLP sets. Normally you shut the set off and the cooling fan cools the lamp down and then it shuts off. In your case, of which it's not your fault, however your lamp has taken a major hit by not properly cooling down, in turn, you need to replace your lamp at this time.
I suggest in the future if you have an electrical storm and a chance of a power outage while your watching tv, I would'nt play that model or any other model of a DLP set.

TV makes humming noise, lamp light is blinking, does not turn on

Your color wheel needs to be changed. Mine just did the same thing. I changed mine, and the buzzing sound went away, however now my picture washes out with light or yellow colors. The darks look green and purple also.

try cleaning The air filter in your set. It may be a thermal problem due to a clogged air filter.

My Samsung 50" HLS5086W wide screen tv keeps shutting off....

I am not in my shop, so, I cannot look at the schematic. The only problem I have seen with two lights blinking with this set is an intermitent thermal fuse above the lamp. Sometimes the lamp door switch is in the up position and it needs to be down (This normally occurs when the lamp door has been opened and it also comes from the factory in the wrong position. The set has a one year warranty. Contact: 1-800-SAMSUNG for a local servicer.
