So you're saying one source makes it crackle and another source doesn't. That suggest the sub is fine and we should examine the source and it's signal path. Please elaborate as much as you can on what it it/they are.
hi, if u want to hook up the sub with ur av receiver the connect the sub woofer output of ur AVR to any one (left or right) input of ur sub woofer. then connect its power . set the frequency range between 90 and 120Hz. set the volume of sub woofer to 40% of its total. also check the av receives speaker setting. goto speaker setup and make ON the sub woofer out.
if want to connect the sub to a stereo amp without sub out. then connect the amps speaker line to the speaker input of sub woofer and connect the speaker out of sub to left and right speaker ( make sure to connect the red to red and black to black). set the volume and frequency as above ok
within the sub amplifier is an electronic amplifier, that is shorted and blown a fuse. This is all internal. If you can dismantle this module, I suggest do so and any electrical/electronic individual will identify the part needed. you could also check on a replacement module-complete.
This might very well be a fuse - check by setting the sub woofer to "On" to see if it powers up. If it does, there may be a problem with the sub woofer audio cable(s) or connection(s).
Don't forget to check for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse on the stereo's speaker output. If your sub is connected to a low level output - this shouldn't be a possible cause - as circuit breakers & fuses are usually on amplified (high level) or speaker outputs.
Another possibility is that the settings of the stereo has been changed from a *.1 system to plain stereo 2.0 or some other setting that disables the LFE (low frequency effects) or sub woofer audio output.
Hiya, start by checking the power cable, then check the fuse in the unit on the pcb. If blown, replace and if it blows again then problem could be either Power supply or the amp outputs. If it doesnt blow, stays on but no sound, problem also likely to be output stage. You will need someone with experience to check outputs, etc and a meter though. Hope that helps a bit. Best of luck
