Try leaving it out for a bit more...something like overnight. Say, when you plugged it back in, was there any reaction from the TV? It made some noise? Maybe something lit up?Try leaving it out for a bit more...something like overnight. Say, when you plugged it back in, was there any reaction from the TV? It made some noise? Maybe something lit up?
Th reason I am suggesting to leave it out for such a long time is because this resets the TV and has a good chance of solving the problem. Could you please tell me which TV do you have (an exact model number would be good)?Th reason I am suggesting to leave it out for such a long time is because this resets the TV and has a good chance of solving the problem. Which universal remote was used? It is peculiar that the buttons on the TV don't work. I am assuming that when you plug it in nothing happens on the TV (no noise/lights/etc...). I see...then the problem here is software and not hardware. The fact that nothing responds when plugged in made me suspect that it was a hardware problem. Like I said before this situation is very peculiar. The buttons on the TV itself are supposed to work regardless of the remote and whatever you have pgogrammed. The fact that the buttons on the TV don't work (and nothing short circuited; no burnt smell) indicates that the software of the TV got messed up somehow by the reprogrammed remote. I would advise unplugging overnight as I suggested before and hopefully the TV will reset itself, If not, then unfortunately the TV will need to be serviced. Make sure that the source is set to TV. If you use the original remote, press the top button between the volume up/down and channel up/down buttons. If you use the buttons on the side of the TV, the Source button is next to the Channel Down button.
Next press Menu. (On the TV, it's the top button. On the remote, it's the top left button next to the arrow keys.) Now navigate down to Channels (use the Channel down on the TV) and press Enter on the remote (or Menu on the TV). Navigate down to Scan Channels and press Enter or Menu (as needed). Choose Antenna or Cable, depending on your source and press Enter again. (Note: the volume buttons on the TV are your left and right arrows in the OSD.) If you get a confirmation notice, select Yes and press Enter.
There are control buttons on the side of the tv. Usually just on/off, volume, channel and menu. Go it menu using these buttons to navigate. Reset tv to default settings or sometimes called factory settings. This should get colour back. Download or read instructions on your remote and reprogram. Sometimes with modern universal remotes you need to program them through your PC with a specific application downloaded from remote manufacturer.
It depends on the TV a bit. Which model of Broksonic TV do you have? Do you have the original remote? (remotes.com has replacement remotes for many TVs.) Look at the TV (or the original remote) for a menu or channel add subtract option. (The TV is probably programmed to skip the channels that didn't have a signal in the past so you need to reprogram this.) If the TV is a really simple TV (with just the channel and volume controls on the TV), you'll need the original or a direct substitute remote (or a higher end programmable remote). Most basic universal remotes will control power, channel and volume but not the reprogram channels option (in my experience). If you can program the add/remove channels, press 60 on the remote, wait for the TV to go to that channel and then press the Add Channel button. Alternately, with the satellite receiver on, press the combination to search all channels and program the skip to channels with signal.
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (I had a really old Emerson TV; when the original remote started to fail, the cheap universal remote didn't handle the channel programming. Fortunately, the original remote would usually still work for that.)
On the right hand side of this television there are panel buttons. It appears that your son in law knocked the tv out of the correct input. Press the input button in order to cycle through the 5 inputs. Typically pressing the input button on the side panel of a television and pressing it again and again and again will make it change inputs. Universally the buttons on the tv panel function as follows: Channel up moves the cursor up. Channel down moves the cursor down. Volume + moves the cursor right. Volume - moves the cursor left.
Hope this helps
I had exactly the same problem. I finally found the power button on the underside of the TV. It is well hidden and to find it, you need to run your fingers underneath the panel. Turn it off for a minute or so and turn it back on and then turn on the switch on the panel on the upper right side where the channel and volume buttons are. It works.
Try pushing the volume buttons in the middle so that you are mashing both the up and down button, your menu should appear. then you can use the channel buttons for moving up and down.
Is the cable remote a programmable universal? If so, just a matter of finding the codes to reprogram functions.
Concerning the "tuning video", are you saying that you can't get to different input sources?
you can use the channel down button scan it until it reach cnannel 3, 2. then Aux.good luck.and to get the originald remote for your tv you can buy it at www.partstore.com it wil cost you about $42.00.goodluck.
