Re: hard drives on my laptop

When you save your itunes, save them to your d drive instead of the c drive. you should have the option of where to save them when you download them. BPCS

When I turn on the computer it boots to "boot to restore disk"

There are several potentials for this problem. The umbrella concern is that the operating system does not appear to be recognized from the hard drive. The problem could be a faulty hard drive (unlikely if you have not heard noise from the drive or you have not had earlier symptoms of read/write problems). The hard drive might be corrupted because of a malware/virus problem. The operating system might be contaminated (no specific reason other than the operating system is not being read and loaded into RAM). If you have critical data on the drive and you have not backed up the hard drive, I would suggest getting an external drive kit from an IT site (Office Depot, CDW, etc) that will handle the drive type and pin configuration for your hard drive. Some laptop hard drives use a 42 pin configuration, others a 44-pin configuration. The more diverse the pin option the better your chances of getting a connection to the drive. The external drive kit will generally allow you to transfer your data files to a second source (another computer or external media storage) via a USB cable and then you can attempt a system rebuild with an operating system disk. If you are not comfortable doing the rebuild or pulling the hard drive from your laptop, make sure your techie saves your data files before rebuilding. Too often the rebuild is accomplished with no attempt to save the data files.

Acer 6920 missing 2 registry files and can't auto repair or start. Hard drive has only 25 gig space left. Are there some files I can download to repair without wiping the hard drive and starting o

If you have the Vista disk, insert it into the CD Rom player. When it starts it will ask you if you want to repair or install a fresh copy. If you choose repair, it will fix any missing registry files

My hard drive is frozen and I can't reboot from system recovery disk. I get a message saying insufficient space, delete items from hard drive to continue.

This happens when you have too many files on the C drive and windows can not operate anymore...I suggest to eliminate the files you keep in my documents ..or on desktop ..I am referring on large files like music folders..or movies or pictures..Juts delete a few first which are not important to you ..and after that save all you need into drive D if you have ..or on disks ..Once the C drive is cleaned a little ..and you have a few G free you will be able to operate the pc again ..
If you are already beyond this operation and you can not make any move at that balloon that says it will free some space by deleting the temporary files and all..and after that it will let you delete or move more files..
If you already can not make these will have to recover it from the recovery disk ..or install it from a boot-able cd with the operation system ..Make sure your recovery cd is containing the operation system ..cause some of them need a clean install of the system and they only contain the drivers and the software..for it ..So you will still need a boot-able cd first to install the operation system clean ..
let me knwo what you have managed to do ..The idea is to free space on C drive cause it is the active drive and need to be at least 20 % free spaced in order to work proper..

How do i format a system using window 7 as operating system

To format the hard drive and reinstall the system you need either a Window 7 install disk or a HP Windows recovery disk for your laptop model.

See links below:

Installing and reinstalling Windows 7

Windows 7 Installation

If you instead need to format an external hard drive, such as an USB disk, click right mouse button on top of the drive icon and choose 'format' from the dropdown menu.

The 261380-001 HD for my EvoN600c is dying. Can I upgrade to a larger capacity drive as long as I stay within the 2.5"/9.5mm size? Can I go to 100 gb?

As far as I am aware you can use a 640Gb drive if you can get one but that is a little too large!
120Gb should be fine.

I only have a 4 GB Hard Drive. I need more space.

There will be more works to install an internal hard drive. You need to back up your data in the old drive, install the operating system in new drive, and copy back your data. I will think buying an external hard drive will be better options (or an usb hard drive enclosure and hard drive buying separately).

Acer 5315 HD C is full HD D empty

Very likely the answer is yes, IF: 1) there is enough space and 2) that D drive is not being used for something else. Check on what is on the D drive. It's usually reserved by the manufacturer and contains OS restore files (used for restoring your system after a crash). Don't delete these, but if there is enough free space, just create a new folder and put your files in there.

I need more space on my laptop

ahaaahhhhhhh......... you mention your partition drive D is completly empty...transfer your drive C files to your drive D. by that you can free space in your DRive C and also right now you are experiencing slow in operation of your laptop ryt? its because Drive C is almost full and your drive C is the partition where your operating system installed...

about your question of combining the drive c and D yes it is possible. for for me you have already the advantege setup currently i yopur laptop all you need to do is balence your files... make your drive D your storage files. your back up area. like your personal files, pictures, music, videos transfer it to drive D
