Voice recorder connectivty

Hi.
I have a Bell Office voice recorder (model 600d).

Vista (32 bit) is loaded on my laptop. although the laptop registers the recorder is attached to my laptop (drive e) I cannot access the directory on the voice recorder.

Each time I try my laptop hangs (freezes).

THis is overcome by ending the task under task manager. I cannot find a site that has this problem listed.

Can you help?
