The washing machine will overflow, flooding water onto the floor. Flooding has happened 8 times, and it attempted to do it about another 5 times (I stand there and watch it and turn off the water supplies to stop it). But it happens sporadically, maybe 1/3 of the loads will result in overfilling and flooding. Also, during the overfilling situations, the knob is sometimes unresponsive (the washer cannot be turned off or switched to spin to empty it). But sometimes during overfilling, I can turn the knob off or to spin to stop the water flow. Where is the problems. Also please note that the overfillng will happen on any size load.
ive included a solution to a similar problem that i solved earlier this week, i hope you find this helpfull...

I am assuming this is a top load washing machine.... the load size selector button has a hose attached to the back of it. This hose goes down to an overflow box mounted to the side of the tub. This tube often gets clogged and the machine cannot tell where the water level is. 1) dissconnect the tube from the level selector switch and ( w/it unplugged ) attach another tube to it and blow into it. you should hear a clicking sound. this means your level selector switch is functioning properly. if it does not click then it needs to be replaced. 2) dissconnect the tube from the level selector switch and ( w/it unplugged ) blow into the tube and you should hear air going into the tub, ( this is best performed with water in the tub ( bubbles ) )....hope this helps

" Thanks rdrsp. When I took the control panel off, I found that the tube had fallen off the control valve. I put it back on with a band clamp. " - bill_marv460 "

Washer machine does not do its spin cycle at end of wash. Water pumps out and sounds like its trying to spin. I've replaced the belt. Is the transmission bad or would there be something else?
