Hi we have the same problem, after doing a big load of towels I noticed the agitator moves fine when there is only water but no clothes in it but once filled with clothes the agitator moves very little unlike it used to and seems loose. Any advice please!?

My ulltimate II tub acts like it isn't screwed in and makes a lot of noise when washing. When empty, I can move the tub freely (all over the place). How do I put in this part.

I believe this is a similar model to mine, which did the same things. This is a direct drive style (no belt). What possible happened is the coupling in between the motor and transmission has broken partially, and it "grabbing" only under a light load. It's a relatively inexpensive (under $5) part, and can be changed pretty easily.

These couplings can be found on Ebay:

If this link doesn't post correctly, just search for "whirlpool coupling". Good luck.

I have a Whirlpool Ultra Care II. Serial No. CK2481971 I need to know how the top agitator works. Should it be moving with the bottom part of the agitator?

Try and turn it by hand . If it turns one way free and not the other way it is ok. If it turns both ways the rachet dogs are probably worn.

I put a down comforter in my Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing machine (I have done this at least 50 times). Last time, it got hung up around the agitator and started making a funny sound. The agitator...

Pull the agitator off and check the plastic drive hub at the top of the agitator shaft. It should not be split, or have it's internal splines sheared off. If this all looks ok, then likely transmission problems or a slipping drive belt (motor to transmission). Good luck!

My agitator on my whirlpool washer doesn't work properly and that keeps the clothes from getting clean. it seems as something is loose, the bottom part works somewhat but the upper of the agitator's not...

The top portion of the agitator is designed to go in only one direction. The purpose is to keep the clothes moving from top to bottom of the basket. When this "ratchet" action fails to occur, it's due to worn "agitator dogs" (part # 80040) usually caused from overloading. It can be a do it yourself repair, or a very inexpensive service call if a professional is used.
