I have the same problem. Iphone is 3 months old. Same thing popped up about 1 month ago and i let it charge over night and it was fine. Yesterday at work it was sitting on my desk and would not go on. I had to turn it on again and gave me the red icon. I charged it here at work, at home all night and tried in the car but icon won't change. I am going to leave it off of the cable to see if it will turn off.

The only thing is this is not the icon not completely showing green. This is always red and won't show charging.

The phone has a bad battery right off the bat. Also make sure you are not bringing it near were there can be moisture as the littlest amount can ruin it.

According to, your iPhone may be charging fine, but the battery icon on the user interface might not be reflecting this correctly. More info:

I've had an iphone 3G for about a year now, and jus in the past 2 weeks i've had a hard time charging my phone, with either a wall outlet or my computer. i'll find myself spending an hour jus trying to...

Most likely your iPhone battery is dead. If you have the AppleCare and hasn't expired Apple will replace your iPhone battery free of charge.

If it has expired you can pay about $50 (I think) and Apple will replace the battery. If you think that's too much go to Amazon/Ebay and look for an "iPhone Battery Replacement Kit." Remember if you do decide to do the battery replacement yourself. You're voiding your Apple warranty & they won't replace it.

My phone has just shut down for no reason (battery was 60% +) and shows no signs of life even when plugged in to charger- any ideas?

Try a hard reset: Hold menu button and powerbutton together for 5sec. If that doesn't restart it, take it to the apple store. If you're out of warranty, try to replace the logic board there are guides that show you how : iPhone Repair Guide

IPhone will not turn on i have tried charging via USB on a MacBook but no luck and have tried charging via AC adapter still no luck

Here are the steps to reset the iPhone. You probably performed the first reset, try the other resets.:

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond
  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:
Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

Take care

My iPhone 3GS battery died and now I get only a white screen...

Try hard reset
  1. Press the home button (the big circle below the screen) and the sleep wake button (the button on top of the iPhone) simultaneously.
  2. Hold both buttons simultaneously for a few seconds, Ignore the "Slide to power off" and keep holding
  3. The iPhone should now shutdown automatically - (fade to black)
  4. Turn the iPhone back on by hitting the sleep/wake button.
  5. You should now see the Apple logo, your iPhone is restarting and thus booting up.
  6. You have completed a hard reset successfully

Apple iphone wont register a charge, resets dont work

It's not booting up. hook it to the computer and see if iTunes sees it when you bring it up holding home and power for 6 secs. then releasing power and hold home longer. Restore it when itunes sees it and it should work again.

Iphone shows battery icon when on charge but will not switch on

Similar solution for a lot of Apple Iphones probles. Best thing to do is to put it into recovery mode.

Hold the Power and the Home buttons together for between 20-30 seconds, it should then ask you to connect it to itunes. Do this, itunes will tell you you have an iphone in recovery mode then give you the option to restore it to the latest version.

Hope this helps
