Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera functions are locked up

My camera takes one picture, but when I try to take another, it is locked, I have to swtich off and on again.

Additionally, the menu button and picture review button does not work all of the time. Sometimes it works, but more frequently I can't access it.

I tried reloading the firmware and cleaning. Any ideas?

Re: Camera functions are locked up

Looks like the camera doesn't go out of the post shooting preview. That could be a software problem. Try removing the camera's battery for 3 minutes to clear the memory.

When i turn my camera on it says memory card is protected and i wont take any pictures, what should i do?

The memory card is most likely an SD type and the lock swich was activated I'm including a diagram to show you the correct orientation of this switch, it must be in the open or unlocked position to function. When you have the memory card unlocked Please format the card so the camera can function properly with it. Formatting the card will insure correct programming between the card and the camera. Format the card after downloading pictures to the camera. it both cleans and restores programing so the card and camera are compatible once again.
Lock is down open is up towards the top and closest to the gold contacts

HI i have a canon ixus 700 it still take great pictures but when i try to use the flach on the camera it wil not take a picture please can you help

It's possible the camera is in one of the manual modes with the flash turned off. With the camera turned on and in the picture taking mode press the function button and look at the bottom of the screen. press the right or left side of the ring to highlite the auto setting then press the function button again.

Canon lens locks when taking a picture.

Mirror lockup is probably enabled. You can disable it by going into Menu and then Custom Functions. Select Mirror lockup and disable it.

The card is locked appears on screen when SD card is inserted

Is it possible for you to use some tweezers and adjust the very small lever inside the camera's card bay? It may be stuck thus telling the camera the card is locked.

When i try to take pictures my camera says card locked.

It's the memory card or SD card you have in the camera. (it sounds like)
Try taking the SD card out and if you look at it closely there is a little switch/ thing you can slide. Slide it to the other side, put it back in your camera and try again. Hope that helps

There should be a small toggle along the end side (it is tiny and easily missed, but it is there, I just checked my memory card / mine is 4GB SD card from Sony) that you can swtich to unlock and your images may come back that way.

Look for it this way, hold the card face down it should be on the back edge where you use your thumb or finger to push it into the slot on your camera.
