My Bose 123 has trouble playing DVD's. I put a cleaning DVD through several times but the video freezes frequently and good DVD's will often be declared as "Format Unsupported" by the player.
I have unplugged the unit from the wall for minutes, unplugged the player from the floor speaker unit and tried multiple DVD's that work on other DVD players. I also have similar issued playing music CD's.
Any suggestions?

- This unit is under 2 yrs old and was not used much. I'm disappointed that it has broken already. Is this a common problem for this system?Best Solution

Do you hear "spinning" when you put your ear close ro on on it?
Can you feel vibrations if you put your hand on it?
If you can then it's not the spindle motor...this rotates the disc.
When you start to play a disc...and if you can hear the spindle motor try changing the tracks to see if the motor that advance the laser from the center to the outer edge of the disc is rotating...you will have to listen very carefully beyond the spindle motor to hear this since they will both be operating at the same time.
The problem may lies in the laser lens assembly which included the 2 small motors and the laser.
Either way you will probably need to take it to an qualified Bose service center in your area since dealing with lasers is very delicate work.
