You have diagnosed the problem yourself. Now you need to get a quote for the repair, which is a major job. Call around your local repairers and see if they will give you a rough estimate, without having to pay for a call out.
You might find it is better to replace the machine.
Also always best not to overload the machine. For example a 5Kg machine does not mean that it will take 5KG worth of dry towls. Imagine the weight of the towls once soaked. That will probably be 3 bath towls max.

Hi. I switched on my machine last night and it started on the cycle before it made kind of a popping noise and then I could smell burning/smoke. The machine won't work now but there is power to it and most of the lights are on the display so for delaying the wash the 3 hour and 6 hour are BOTH lit up etc. etc. Any ideas please? I did have my laptop plugged in at the same time and wondered whether it had caused the washer to blow a fuse? Many thanks :)
