Well, I broke down and called the tech! The problem was with the "convergence" components. he fixed the problem in half an hour (and $239). The technician says is is a common problem for our TVs when they are over 4 years old - mine just turned 4 this month. Sorry I wasn't more helpful but good luck with your set...

While watching tv, it just turned off. Now, the power light comes on for 3-4 seconds, but turns back off without the screen displaying anything. Best Buy said "maybe" a bulb, but could be a board.

I am currently experiencing the same problem. The "Geek Squad" guy diagnosed it over the phone and said they don't make parts for this repair any longer. Does that sound reasonable?

I had the same problem about 8 - 10 months ago. My brother has the 55" inch Mitsubishi model with the same problem. The tech fixed my problem, cleaned the projectors and other components. It cost me approx. $240 for the pick-up, service repair, and return of the TV. Now, today, the TV is doing the same thing again. I believe I am going to cut my losses....repair it and sale it. I don't want to spend $240 -$250 every 8 - 10 months. I will never buy another Mitsubishi piece of junk ever again. I use to swear by the Mitsubishi brand....going to get myself a Sony....or anything instead of a Mitsubishi.

Hi Paul any update on this problem? Did you get it fixed? I similar problem. When I pressed Input and Menu simultaneously, however, I didn't see anything displayed on screen.

    Thx.

I repaired a convergence problem on this model by locating IC8C01 and IC8C02, the two large convergence chips on the main pcb(center board) and solder all the leads making sure not to leave any solder bridges! The unit was over 4 years old and used often. Those chips get pretty heated and make the solder brittle and crack around the leads.

I finally called a tech. He came, took a look in just few minutes, told me it was the convergence, charged me $50+tax, estimated total cost of $350+tax ($50 trip cost could apply for total cost). I decided not to fix, wait for few days and decide. These guys are a rip-off.

I wonder if I can fix by myself. Where can I buy the convergence components or the whole module. I am not a technician, but wonder if my engineering background could qualify me for a self repair. I probably have to buy some soldering equipment from RadioShack?

Any feedbacks would be much appreciated.

Mitsubisi wt-46809 will not turn on. i plug it in and it blinks 3 times then nothing. no error code when i hold menu and input

keep in mind if you unplug set it clears the error buffer.

Try to turn set on and if power light comes on and goes off then do the self check; menu and input for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

UNPLUG TV ANDTHEN PLUG BACK IN---TURNON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT ANDGOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and twoblinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.

Before you rate this information let me know what you find.

My Mitsubishi WT 46807 will not power up. The green light on the front stays on for approximately 2 seconds and then goes out with no audio or visual. I tried unplugging the set for about 15 minutes but...

yes!

When you turn set on and power light goes out do the self check this set has.

On front of set when light goes out press and hold both the Menu and Input (device) buttons at the same time and hold both for at least five seconds and then release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks,2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means. Make a comment here and I will assist you.

I have a mitsubishi wt-42315. when i turn it on it shuts down right away. any thoughts?

Do the self check this model has.

When you turn it on and green power light goes out:

on front of set press and hold both the menu and input (or device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

The power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what problem is.

If this helped rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

When I turn on my tv it will shut off

Model number is WT-46809?

If set comes on for a moment and then goes off(green power light)

ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS BOTH menu AND input at the same time and hold both buttons in for at least 5 seconds---then release both buttons.

Watch the power light---it should blink a two digit code---ERROR CODE---
The most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks-----set will repeat the error code about 10 times.

If you find this error code let me know the blinks and I will tell you what it means and may be able to tell you what is needed to correct it.

Mitsubishi tv will not stay on

That model has a blink code to help diagnosis. When the TV goes off press The Input And Menu Buttons On The Front Panel Simultaneously And Hold Them In For 5 Seconds After 5 Seconds The Power Led On The Front Panel Will Blink A Two Digit Sequence. It will help determine the circuit but troubleshooting will be needed to check for a defective component.
