Question about Mitsubishi WT-42315 42" TV
I repaired a convergence problem on this model by locating IC8C01 and IC8C02, the two large convergence chips on the main pcb(center board) and solder all the leads making sure not to leave any solder bridges! The unit was over 4 years old and used often. Those chips get pretty heated and make the solder brittle and crack around the leads.

I finally called a tech. He came, took a look in just few minutes, told me it was the convergence, charged me $50+tax, estimated total cost of $350+tax ($50 trip cost could apply for total cost). I decided not to fix, wait for few days and decide. These guys are a rip-off.
I wonder if I can fix by myself. Where can I buy the convergence components or the whole module. I am not a technician, but wonder if my engineering background could qualify me for a self repair. I probably have to buy some soldering equipment from RadioShack?
Any feedbacks would be much appreciated.
