Question about Canon PIXMA iP4300 InkJet Photo Printer

Paper jam error, no paper to be found

Hi, I can't find any paper anywhere...  must mention that I ignored a low ink sensor to finish printing a project.  The printer sent a few more pages through in the following days, but then reads paper jam, and won't print any more.  I'm not sure if those two things are related.  Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Paper jam error, no paper to be found

Hi there I had one of these back at the workshop with the same problem it turned out to be a drawing pin that had stuck down the paper path. When you ope all the covers does the jam go away? If not there maybe a torn piece stuck in there. I don't think the two are related but worth a try to change ink. The other thing is that on some canon products you will have to press the stop button the clear.

Try this hope it works if not please get back to me.

Error 6400 ink cartridges wont track accross

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement. A Pixma MP830 would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its always a paper path error or purge unit.
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

When i turn my printer on the light flashes green once and then orange 5 times. cannot get past this stage - any ideas?

Here are all the flashing explanations:

Two flashes: Out of paper or paper feed error

Reload the paper correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

Three flashes: Paper jam

If paper has jammed in the printer, clear the jam, reload the paper in the printer correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

See Paper Jams

Four flashes: Empty ink tank

If you press the RESUME/CANCEL button, it will continue printing with an empty ink tank. After printing is finished, replace the ink tank immediately. If you continue printing with an empty ink tank, it may cause damage to your printer.

Refer to your Quick Start Guide for instructions on how to replace an ink tank.

Five flashes: No print head installed/Defective print head

Install the print head. Also, ensure that the protective tape has been removed.

If reinstalling the print head does not solve the problem, replace it with a new one. Contact the Customer Care Center.

Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full

The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact the Customer Care Center.

Phaser 860 Printer posting a paper jam at start up.

Sounds like printhead needs replacement.
Moving these printers without cool down is known to destroy printheads and of course wax goes everywhere and then everything else fails.Think about replacement
