I have the VH2 Vornado Heater and it worked well for all of 6 months, then suddenly stopped heating the air while the fan worked just fine. It ended up making the rooms colder by circulating the cold air. Any suggestions on how to check and fix the element. I'm not an electrician but I can sure try to troubleshoot if someone can give me some steps to follow once I crack this puppy open. Thanks.

It depends on what kind of heating element you are referring to. If you have a test meter it is very easy. With the meter set to resistance put a test probe at each end of the element. The reading should be very low, almost short-circuit. If you're not technically minded, your probably completely lost by now...sorry.

The only other thing you can do is take a close look at it. If it is badly discoloured or has blackened, it has probably had it.

Without knowing more about the appliance and a few more details it is difficult to give any further advice.

    There are two possible problems

1)As you have no heat or fan, check the thermostat contacts to make sure they are not corroded or dirty. If they are, the connection that allows the element to draw current may be broken. The thermostat is designed to cut the power to the element when the heat reaches a threshold temperature and it will also stop the fan until everything cools down. If it is not working the heat and fan will not operate correctly. If the contacts are poor, you may be able to clean them or replace the thermostat.

    2) The fan itself could be seized or faulty. The element needs the fan to stop it from burning out. If the element gets hot and the fan does not operate it will quickly overheat and burn out. So check the fan. Make sure it turns easily, check the connections.

Can't find model11066922500

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

Your heating element is difficult to get at.

25438420-j5jtgwve0qxm0uckbdimcx40-4-0.jpg Unplug the dryer before installing this heating element. Remove the bottom front service panel to access and replace the heating element.
This heating element is rated at 5500 watts.
This Dryer Heating Element part #3387747
Cost: $59.00

It is located in side the housing.

You may just be plugged up with lint in your hot air distribution manifold.

Or have a bad high temperature limit switch located on the back on your hot air exhaust manifold.

Bad heating element or bad thermo fuse.
You will have to unplug the dryer and remove the back to access the heating element. The thermo fuse is located on the side of the heating element.
If you don't have a meter to test the element and thermo fuse or just don't know how simply remove them from the dryer and take them to your local appliance repair shop and they can test them for you.

IDW 450 belling dishwasher wont heat up water

Hi, make sure you settings on the timer are working correctly first and if they are it sounds as if though the heating element may be bad or have a loose connection.
Check the heating element by the connections underneath where they plug in at and if they are plugged in if you have the knowledge you can check to see if they are getting voltage. If they are then do an ohm test across the heating element and that will tell you if the element is bad or not.
Elements are not that hard to replace and you must have the mode and serial number for the unit to order one

My asko dishwasher is putting a horrible film on everything including the inside of the washer

Hi,

Usually that condition is a result of the heating element either going bad or not working because the control is not activating it....

Open the dishwasher when it is most of the way through a cycle and check the water temperature... it should be at least 140F

If it is not then check for power at the element... that will tell you if the element is bad or if the control is bad...

A bad heating element causes many problems in dishwashers...

Kenmore heavy duty dryer all of a sudden quit heating up

Is there a breaker reset on the heating element? Could be the element itself went bad, or the controller for it. Does it want to go through a full cycle, just no heat? Remove back panel and check for power at the heating element. If power is present, the heater is bad. If not power, follow the power line back to the controller and check for power there. continue until you have power and replace the failed component.
This is most likely 240 V, at the heating element, so if you are not comfortable doing this, don't! I won't tell you how to check for power with a meter. If you don't know, you should not be back there. sorry to be blunt, but 240 V kills.

Good luck

No heat

Hi there,

Well first of all you can tell us the model number of your dryer, so we can help you...... anyway if your dryer is a electrical dryer then first you check Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it. Please post comments for further help or information..........

Good Luck!!

Hotpoint Aquarius Condensor Dryer not getting Hot

I don't know Hotpoint models but I do know Malber models very well which also have a condensing dryer. The dryer has a fan and a heating coil or heating element, similar to a hair dryer. If you are getting no air flow, then it could be the fan. If you are getting air flow but it is not hot, then it is probably the heating element which burnt out. In the Malber machine, the top cover comes off and you can see an aluminum duct on top with two terminals sticking out the side. These two terminals go to the heating element inside the duct, and the heater element is like the heating element in an oven. You have to remove the duct and then it splits into a top and bottom half, and then you can remove the heating element to replace it. The way to tell if it is bad is to run the machine in a dry cycle and see if there is 110 volts across the heating element terminals. If there is power, but no heat, then the heating element is bad. That element is usually the first thing to fail.
