I have a Compaq Preario SR 1208AN which is unable to connect via the ethernet connection. It appears the internal connector is faulty because if I slightly move the cable then I loose the internet connection. Can you help as to where I can get a replacement part and how do I remove the old part
Thanks
Robert
Have you spent about $5 and tried a different Ethernet cable?

For your desktop computer, the Ethernet adapter is integrated into the motherboard. So, to replace the connector, you will have to replace the motherboard, costing over $200, unless your computer is still eligible for service via the HP warranty.
It would be much easier & cheaper (under $20) to purchase a PCI Ethernet card, install it into an empty PCI slot, install the software from the CD-ROM that came with the card, and connect the Ethernet cable to this card, rather than to the integrated socket.
