Compaq Preario SR 1208AN ethernet connector faulty

I have a Compaq Preario SR 1208AN which is unable to connect via the ethernet connection. It appears the internal connector is faulty because if I slightly move the cable then I loose the internet connection. Can you help as to where I can get a replacement part and how do I remove the old part

Thanks

Robert

Have you spent about $5 and tried a different Ethernet cable?

Look at: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00251993/c00251993.pdf

For your desktop computer, the Ethernet adapter is integrated into the motherboard. So, to replace the connector, you will have to replace the motherboard, costing over $200, unless your computer is still eligible for service via the HP warranty.

It would be much easier & cheaper (under $20) to purchase a PCI Ethernet card, install it into an empty PCI slot, install the software from the CD-ROM that came with the card, and connect the Ethernet cable to this card, rather than to the integrated socket.

How do i hook my compaq preario cq56 laptop to my hitachi hd plasma tv

The laptop looks like it has an external VGA port only and without knowing what model of Hitachi tv it is. It is quite possible the tv may have a VGA input in which case a standard VGA cable will allow you to connect the laptop to the tv. Otherwise you will need one of the following depending on what connections the tv has:

1. VGA to HDMI cable: http://www.amazon.com/Video-Cable-Black-Support-Necessary/dp/B002TUC64W/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1355697785&sr=1-1&keywords=vga+to+hdmi+cable

2. VGA to RGB cable: http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Premium-Component-Cable-Black/dp/B0012SPNII/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1355697879&sr=1-1&keywords=vga+to+rgb+cable

If you do not have an HDMI input, you will also need to get an audio cable as well. Standard mini-stereo audio cables should allow you to connect the laptop to the tv.

Compaq presario sr2020nx ethernet adapter issue

Since youre setting up a DSL connection choose Set up broadband connection > PPPoE. You will need the username and password you were given to this account (contact customer service at your ISP for this info). Enter the info and have it remember the password. Click connect. Once Vista finds the connection, it will ask you to choose a network type (Home, Work, or Public). Select the type and enjoy. If the connection fails, recheck your username and password entries.

I am unable to connect to internet explorer on my hp laptop

You either need drivers for your Ethernet and/or wireless card.

Or you just didn’t plug in the Ethernet cable or you are not connected to any wireless access points.

UNABLE TO FIND IP ADDRESS

I think the Ethernet cable needs to run directly to your router/modem, you can't bypass it through a laptop (as far as I know!)
