Problem for Canon MX300 Office All-In-One Printer
Error message 5100 on Canon MX300 printer

When trying to print an error message comes up on the computer screen. The LCD on the printer lists the error code 5100. The color ink was low or gone so I wondered if that was the problem. I replaced it and it is still not working. Any ideas?

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor
First open cover and check carriage road for pieces of paper stuck and clean the timing **** strip film.If this not help your printer need service.

If the ink cartridges are stuck you can manually slide them back to their default position and check for paper or junk which may have slipped down the paper chute and is blocking the ink cartridges.
Remove the blockage
Reset Printer
Done
I just had this problem and it was easy to fix.
If this not help, buy another printer! Cheaper than service...
