Think you're going at it from the wrong end, should be four bolts holding the whole assembly. Take off the blade and pull the rest up through the whole, leave the pulley on it. Don't buy new bearings, better off and cheaper to get a used one that works.

How to remove shaft assembly from mandrel housing of a husqvarna yth2348

It's much easier to do on the tractor.
1. Leave deck installed.
2. Jack tractor up and lower deck.
3. Run a heavy wire through the mandrel pulley's tie down hole.
4. Raise deck and tie wire around the deck.
5. Lower deck and remove top nut.
6. Raise deck and remove shaft.
You can modify this procedure to loose the nut if you don't have a jack and remove it once the deck is off. Retorque nut to 35 ft. lbs during install.

How can I un-bolt the Mandrel Pulley from the shaft?

If you have the deck removed from under the tractor you can try putting the blade back on tight if you have removed it and then use the blade to keep the mandrel shaft from turning. It takes quite a bit of torque to break the nut loose on the pulley so a socket and ratchet or breaker bar is the best thing to use. Other than that there is no "special" tool required

John deere mower won't engage

on the engine there is a shaft with 2 pullys ,drive belt goes to the top closet to the engine lower pully is for the deck
there also is a saftey switch located on the deck which should shut down blade operation when raised. check the mandrels for broken bearings by grabbing the pully and wiggle them back and forth looking for movement could be possible that one madrel is shot giving you that bad sound which is crushed bearings

Craftsman mandrel replacement::?????HELP

You dont have to drop the deck. Remove the belt first then hold the blade in place so you can loosen the nut on top of the pulley. after you remove the pully then remove the blade. There are 3 bolts holding the mandrel in place remove the bolts. Then pull the mandrel out from underneath the mower deck. There is a shroud that will come loose with it or it may stick from accumilated grass regardless it needs to go back during reassembly. When putting it back together the 3 bolts are usually self tapping into the new aluminum mandrel. Its much easier to put these in and take them out before you install the new mandrel as the bolts cut the threads.

Hope this helps

I had to get a new mandrel housing which goes

You have to remove the nut on top of the pulley. With the pulley off, the shaft will slide out the bottom with the blade. Don't forget when you put the pulley back on, the washer/spacer goes BETWEEN the pully and housing, NOT on top of the pulley. Dwain

How to replace mandrel spindle

If you have the deck off, you can use a 7/8 socket on an impact gun or if it's still on the tractor, Leave the blade on, wedge something there to keep blade from turning and use a breaker bar on the top nut. Be sure when you put the pully back on that the washer is underneath the pully, NOT on top. Dwain

Dremel rotary tool removing shaft of attachment

They can be stubborn. I would take padded pliers to the nut, and not focus on removing the shaft until the nut is loosened. Be careful not to damage the nut. You may also try spraying a light lubricate at the base of the nut and hold the dremel upside down so that some could possible get behind the nut.
