Re: wireleess router wont work PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You will need to logon the router via the computer, and create a PPPOE internet connection. The user manual that came with the router will show you how to do this. If you do not have the manual. Do the following: open internet explorer in the address window type the IP of the router "example" your router IP should be on the bottom of the router. If not click start/run, type ipconfig at the > the router ip is listed at "default gateway". once you get to the routers logon page enter one of the following: username "leave blank" - username " admin " -or- username "admin" - password 1234. once logged on the router go to internet connections and select PPPOE enter the username and password provided by your ISP save the settings and you should make the internet connection now. My linksys router doesnt have a default gateway and the reset buttton on the router doesnt work either

When you look between the Ethernet port and Power button, there should be a reset button there you should hold for 5 seconds. Of course if you do that, If you changed Network name and key that will be reset to the default settings, Also is wireless network showing when you pull up the Networks? You can leave user name blank, but default password is admin. Also email me with more info I will be glad to help

I have a netgear WPN824v2 wireless router. I have just bought an iphone 4 and although I can get onto the wireless network, I can't see the interenet. Any thoughts appreciated

Some things to try:
1) Check the current version of firmware on your WPN824v2. If it is older than version 2.0.26, then try downloading and installing the firmware update to see if this resolves the issue.

Firmware Update: (click here) [Note: directions for performing the update are on this page as well]

2) Check whether disabling IPv6 on both laptops makes any difference. If you need help doing this, please ask me in a reply.

3) Verify that both laptops are using automatic (DHCP) IP address assignment

4) Verify that MAC address filtering is not preventing the second laptop.

Again, if you have any questions about how to do any of these checks, please feel free to send a reply. Also if after we're done with this session and you are happy with the information provided, please consider rating it with 3 or 4 thumbs-up.

My modem works fine with my old linksys router. I bought a dlink and I had to unplug my modem to get it to start working again. This would happen dozens of times a day or sometimes just once every day. I...

Ok, based in my research online, i found the following that might help, subbed into 2 possible solutions:

Solution 1: Install Router Commander. It seems to have worked well with most D-LINK installations and aside from reducing the intermittent connectivity, it will also help boost your performance for downloads and gaming.

Solution 2: Check your router for it's model and the DLINK website for any firmware upgrades that might be necessary. If non are needed, try to reset the modem to factory default config and then re-configure or perform and upgrade to the firmware (if necessary). Follow the user manual provided for instructions on this or download it from the D-LINK website in a PDF file format.

If all else fails, the unit may be faulty and it would be best to either go back to the vendor you bought it from to request a replacement or call D-LINK directly (if unit is under warranty) to request for replacement.

Hope this helps!

Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure it. In case it doesn't work then try upgrading the firmware on the router. This should fix it.

My wireless router wont work

Run a cat5 cable from the laptop to a cat5 port on the router, open internet explorer in the address window type or what ever the IP address of the router once you have accessed the router create your PPPOE internet connection, enter your Internet Service Provider's username and password. Once you have done this, disconnect the cat5 cable and connect wirelessly to the router from the laptop. If all this fails press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10-15 seconds this will reset the router to factory defaults. connect to the wireless router and create the PPPOE connection. Wireleess router wont start

Try putting a cat5 cable from the computer's network port to a cat5 port on the router then on the computer open internet explorer in the address window type the following but use the IP address of the router "which is the Deaut Gateway" it will be on the bottom of the router and also in the manual that came with the router, -or- use the username and password in the manual, the username will either be admin with password of 1234 -or- the username field will be left blank with the password of admin. after you logon the router's setup page you can configure the router as you desire. be sure and create the PPPOE internet connection on the router use the username and password that your internet provider gave you. D-link 634M wireless router problem

Assuming wireless connection is enabled in the router(if you have the option), and it was set up initially through a RJ45 lead; make sure the router is not using 108 mbps streaming, as your laptop probably only has 54 mbps capability. See if you can set it to 54 mbps and re-start router.
