Question about Hoover U6630-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Does not pick up dirt anymore

I've replaced the belt but that didn't work. When it's on, the brush roll does not go to "on" and always is "off" how do I fix this? Is it the brush that needs replacing? If yes, how do I do that?

Our Hoover windtunnel's beater bar only revolves when the vacuum is in
the completely upright position, but once we release the upright
portion and proceed to vacuum it brushes sporadically. We've checked
the belt and its on properly and the suction part of the vacuum is
    working very well...no obstructions.

There are two belts on this machine. The first is a flat rubber belt that is designed to slip or break if the roller is jammed. This bet requires replacement at least once a year. It is vitally important to get the proper belt, as there is no other that will fit and function. The second is a v-belt and the early model belts were too thin and would sit down in the pulley too far and the tension required to drive the roller would be less than sufficient. When the handle is in the upright position, the roller stops. When the handle is lowered, there is an idler arm and pulley that sits down on the v-belt and tightens it enough to rotate the roller. In some cases, the tire on the pulley will come off and will not put enough force on the belt to tighten it.
There is also an adjustment on the hood of the machine to turn the roller off for bare floor cleaning. This adjustment should only be made with the handle in the upright position.
The belt(s) can look just fine and still be worn out. Replacing the belts is always the first solution and the least expensive.

The bottom brush that spins around is not moving anymore

The belt that drives it has probably broke,If you can remove the head on that model remove it and replace the belt . You make have to access the belt by removing the screws from the bottom of the power head.

It sounds like either the bearings are seized, or there is debris in the assembly. You will probably need to dismantle the vacuum and clean everything out. It's not unusual for vacuum s to get really dirty and need periodic maintenance. If you have replaced the belt, then you have the skill to do the rest. Note that after re-assembly don't try to lubricate the bearings. They will only collect dirt faster.

Motor runs fine and hose not clogged will not pickup dirt

This may sound silly, but have you checked the belt? A lot of Eureka vacuums use the vac motor to run the brush, and if the brush is not running the vacuum won't pick up. Another thing to check is the condition of the fan blades.. if they get worn they will push air out of the exhaust ports, but not push enough air to pull the dirt into the vacuum bag. Another thing to check is the length of the bristles on the brush... you can change a lot of the bristle strips and save the cost of a whole brush roll.. All of these fixes are under $10.00 (Belt: $1-2, Brush Strip $3-6, Fan $5-10) at most places.

My Eureka vacuum model 4471 does not pick up - the bag is new??

Check to see if the hose and the dirt inlet by the brush roll is open and not clogged. Also if you haven't replaced the belt in a awhile, it may have stretch to the point that it isn't turning the brush roll under load.

I have a Eureka Whirlwnd bagless upright vacuum. It can pick up the dog hair but does not pick up the dirt anymore. What can I do?

Check the hose and dirt inlet by the brush roll for a clog. Also check your brush roll, do the ends turn freely, if not replace it, you may need a new belt, it may not be turning the brush roll under load. They stretch after awhile and will slip.

Wont pick up dirt

Is the brush roll turning, if not then replace the belt. You may have a clog in the hose or in the dirt inlet down by the brush roll.

Loss of suction in my Hoover Windtunnel bagless selfpropelled upright

Did you check the dirt inlet by the brush roll, filters ok, they should be replaced once a year. Belts can look fine, but if they are a few months old, I am sure they have stretched and the brush roll will not turn like it should under load. It is possible that the motor isn't running up to speed, thereby reducing suction.

Doesn't seem to pick up little articles anymore

You have to turn the filter, there is a knob on the tank lid that you turn to help clean the filter. If the filter looks pretty clogged, then it needs to be replaced, or cleaned if it is one of the washable ones. You could have a clog in the hose, or down below where the brush roll is the inlet where the dirt first comes in. Is the brush turning? You may need to replace the belt and/or brushroll. Down in the noozle asm, there also is a vale that will open and close depending on the handle position, it may not be working so it seems like no suction when you do the floor.
