Question about Kodak EasyShare Z710 Digital Camera

My Kodak Z710 camera wont turn on

My camera is out of warranty. I had it a little over a year. I tried changing the batteries but that didn't fix the problem. What should I do? Should I buy a FixYa warranty and send it to them?

We have exactly the same problem, the camera was fine for about 6 months, took it off the docking station to use the other day and nothing. Changed the battery, nothing. Tried uploading existing pics onto the PC, kodak software said doesn't recognise anything attached! So we cant take new, we can't even retrieve old pics, can someone please shed some light on this problem.

My Z710 will turn on occasionally, but after just a few seconds it turns itself off. When using it in video mode it only stores about 20 seconds of data, then shuts off. Sometimes the lense remains extended after automatically turning off, regardless of the mode in use at the time. When I do finally get pictures and/or video, the camera exhibits the same problems when trying to download the data to my computer. Recently I had to turn it on and off 8 times before it finally decided to cooperate. The suggestion about bending the contacts does not excite me very much. Eventually, those copper alloy contacts will suffer stress fractures and break. What then?

I had a weird problem with mine. A few weeks ago I recharged the battery pack, placed it into the camera and after 30 minutes the batteries heatede up to a point that the battery cover melted.

If I place a small metal plate to make the battery to contact, after a few minutes I take the batteries out and you can feel them to heat up.

As many of you, I have a year and a few month with this camera and it does work, but heats up the batteries.

Take a "small" flat head screw driver, and "GENTLY" pry up on the battery contacts in the bottom of the camera. Clean the contacts with a q-tip using "small" amount of white vinigar on one side. Then dry contacts with other side of Q-tip. This always works for me.The force of the battery door can cause the contacts to bend down ... thus, not getting any power. Mine does this about every 2 months, so i just repeat. Make sure battery is "fully" charged. ALWAYS use the rechargeable batteries only.

Our kodak easyshare z710 got wet. Have tried drying it out overnight. Any hope that it will work again?

hello there!
I suggest that you remove the battery and open any closed location, but do not unscrew it unless it is no longer covered with the warranty. But perhaps, better yet to bring your digicam to a service center to further check the electronic parts internally.

On my Kodak EasyShare Z710 camera is not flashing, what am I doing wrong?

Make sure the flash door is popping open all the way. If it has recently received a hard shock or bump, it might have blown the flash. If it is still under warranty, might try taking it back. Also check the battery power.

My camera won't turn on. i plugged it into the computer, and changed the batteries several times

Fixing your problem could be as simple as cleaning the battery contacts in the camera, or the solution could be a lot more complex and expensive. Here's a link to the Kodak Help Center - it provides a simple Q&A format to diagnose the problem and propose a solution.

Z710 Camera quit working

Pry the battery contacts " in bottom of camera" up GENTLY" with a small flat head screw driver. They bend easy causing this problem. The force from the battery door can cause this. Always use the "rechargeable" batteries, and make sure it is fully charged. I'll bet anything it will work then. Also. clean the contacts top and bottom with a Q-tip, using a little dab of white vinigar on one side, then dry using other side of Q-tip.Then turn on camera without memory card. Kodak cameras love to eat batteries. The older they get the worse. You might have to repeat this every week or couple of months.
