I have had my Sony walkman NWZ-E436F for about 3

I have had my Sony walkman NWZ-E436F for about 4-5 months. At first it worked fine. I can connect it to my PC and the "Connected USB (MTP)" message appears, along with a charging battery bar in the bottom right corner.
I can't find a way of safely disconnecting it; although the PC can find it to transfer files, it won't let me safely disconnect it as a USB or storage device, but thats just meant to be and you're supposed to be able to take out the wire and the devise not caring.
So I then just disconnect it (this was fine until now) and sometimes the screen flickers, then stays, wont turn off & turns boiling hot until I reset it. It then won't turn on no matter what I try, until I connect it again, and exactly the same happens.
Sometimes I just disconnect it, the screen immediately turns blank, and won't change until I plug it in again.
Any ideas?

Hey... I know this thread is fairly old... but I will tell you what I did. I have the Sony MP3 walkman,NWZ-E438F.. Until recently I have had no problems just disconnecting, I had no way of sagely ejecting. Yesterday, I tried disconnecting, and the screen started flickering and and saying that it was still connected... and that was all I got... so I left it plugged in till this morning. I went to Sonystyle.com.
At the top of the screen, find where it says support, click on online product support. When it brings you to the next page, you will see an area where you can put your model # right to the right of all the icons. Enter your model number found on the back of your device and press enter.
On the next page toward the top, you will see a link under Drivers & Software. Click on that. Select your operating system on the next page, select firmware and follow the steps... It really said I was upgrading from a current 1.02 to a new 1.02, but after it was done, the screen on my MP3 Continued sayin do not disconnect, and I was able to "safely" disconnect my device buy right-clicking that Icon in the bottom right hand corner of your PC.

That is the only time you have to disconnect in that fashion... once you plug it back in again, you can disconnect as you did before, by just unplugging. But now mine is Fine.

Hi stephendu639,
If it shows up as an MTP device, then it can definitely be removed at once without any problems about safely disconnecting. After you disconnect it, the screen should remain blank for a while, then "creating library" should come up. This process takes anything between 10 to 60 seconds to complete, after which you can reach home. But you probably know all these. Please do not reset the player so often, and instead take it to a service center. It seems like a problem with the device itself (although Sony generally has fine quality).

My sony walkman nwz-e436f is full of songs but is now telling that no songs are available for playback. Is there anything I can do, I have already tried to reset but nothing happened.

It appears that your walkman is still turning on. When you connect it to your computer, check windows media player and look if it recognizes your walkman. If it is not recognized. look it up from windows explorer as a removable device, and take it from there.

My Sony Walkman NWZ-E436F shuts off after creating the library

Hi I had the same problem and I finally figured it out.
First you will have to try to connect to the computer by pluggin it in and reseting once the computer recognizes it you should be able to look at the files.
If you are able to get the device to this point;
1. create a folder on you computer it could be in you desktop or document and name it something you would remember to go to. I named mine SONY.
2. copy all the folders from your WALKMAN to this folder;
3. delete all files from your WALKMAN there are some files it will not allow you to and just hit SKIP.
4. download the Firmware update (1.02) from the SONY Suport website: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=NWZE436F and select your computers operating system and download the file.
5. Once you download it run it and it should re-install all the necesary files back to you device.
6. Re-start the WALKMAN and it sould work just fine now you can go back and add your music files and photos, etc...

Good luck this worked perfectly for mine.
