I have an optima hd180 that will not power up. The projector was indicating a bad bulb, so I replaced that with a new one. Now it still will not power up and the fan does not come on either.

Problem w/ OEM bulb, it causes a lot of issues from my experience. Your ballast might have gone bad, hopefully it's just that. Check the voltage output of the ballast, make sure you're getting the proper amount.

The problem with my projector is it keeps flashing green and red

your statement is not very specific but if the power led is flashing green and the lamp led is flashing red that indicates a fan failure.

contact optoma support here and enquire if you can have a warranty repair, or how much it may cost to have the fault fixed.

if you hear chirping or a loud buzzing, you have a bad colorwheel. the lamp won't turn on if the colorwheel doesn't spin as fast as it needs to. if you don't hear anything like that, you need a new power supply. the lamp striking takes a lot of power, and if the power supply can't handle it, it shuts off. you can get the part from an infocus service center and replace it yourself, or send it to them for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good.

Projector will not project light (Mitsubishi LVP-X80U) LCD Proje.

Hello toma_leonard,

First check your lamp to make sure it is seated properly in the socket.
Then check all of your interlocks (see your manual for locations), these are usually located on any hatches or doors that allow access to the lamp and or fan area. Once you check your interlocks make sure the filter and fan area is clear of dust, (some projectors have air flow sensors), and the recheck the interlocks. Once this is done , If the interlocks are not broken, or the lamp fuse blown, the projector should be working. If not it is the lamp that needs changing.

I know this may be expensive, however these lamps do go bad, as much as we wish they would not.

If you still feel it is not the lamp, have a technician check the voltage levels to the lamp and the levels of the control board circuitry.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

I had exactly this problem. After plugging and unplugging it multiple times over several weeks (even plugging it in quickly after it was unplugged but with the green light still flashing as suggested here) all to no avail, it just started working on its own one day. It worked for a few weeks and then the problem re-appeared.

InFocus tech support recommended:
1. Check whether the lamp door is securely closed.
2. Check the color of the LED and the number of time it blinks. (For me, a very fast almost flickering flash)
3. Does the fan operate? (My fan would go on when plugged in)
4. Remove the lamp module, shake it gently and reseat the lamp module.

For me, these steps did not work. InFocus then recommended that I send it to ProjectorDoctor, and it was diagnosed with a bad power supply. $395, but it is fully functional again. Good luck.........
