We videoed our Christmas, but when we went into playback the disc says it's full, but it won't play anything back. We know there's information on the disc, but we can't transfer it to our computer either.

Hi,
You need to Finalize recorded discs in camcorder as finalize option is available in camcorder menu.
make sure that camera gets power from ac adapter/ charger when finalizing disc. It wont finalize disc on battery.
Thanks.

Handycam DCR-DVD108 DVD Camcorder: if I get a request to format disc upon re-insertio...

Well this was mostly the main reason the pro film makes like myself decided never to go towards DVD (disk) movie cameras and always stay with tapes like the digital 8 sort.
With disk cameras you are never ever going to be sure you are catching anything, as the disk will spin happy in the camera, but as 1000's have already found your disk will be bland if you put the disk back in the camera next time.
Did you format your disk at start of first use? sore are pre-formated, lots are not and wont record unless they are.
Good luck my friend hope you get it sorted out ok?

Sony DCR DVD108 not finalizing disc, lost data

I noticed that too with my "VR" (and NOT "Video") formatted disks. I don't think you can finalize the VR ones. Instead you have to use the Sony Import tool to grab the videos. If you are like me you probably remember using the import tool with Video formatted disks BEFORE finalizing them and it takes forever to copy them. They must be finalized to view on other devices, copy using the import tool quicker, etc., but VR formatted disks seem optimized for importing (and can be edited on the camcorder directly.

Movies shot DV Camcorder forms mpg files when down loaded in computor and can not be converted to a CD. Problmes comes in conversion of mpg files to AVI, WMV, AVSEQ or MPEG2 etc.
