51ws500 color shadows

Hi there- A friend of mine has this set in his garage and is willing to give to me for free. The problem he says is that when watching the set, blue shadows or lines surround things on the right half of the screen, while it does the same in red on the left. He has tried all of the reset options on the tv as well. I am wondering if this is even worth trying to fix. It would be a bedroom tv, used minimal. I have a basic knowledge in electronic repairs but a quick learner! I appreciate the help! - Joe
